Ok, I'll look for a hotel in Santa Monica. Where would you buy the tickets then? It would be easier for me, if I purchase them now and print them out at home... Or would you just drive up to the venue and buy them from scalpers/box office?

Yeah I think staying in Santa Monica will put you close to just about everything you'd want to see in the LA Area. You can check Hermosa/Manhattan/Redondo beaches as well. They are a bit further away from the central LA area but they are really nice areas.

Buy tickets on Stub Hub, eBay or Barry's tickets. Those are the places I usually look. If you go to the box office or ticketmaster you'll be paying face value. You should be able to find tickets cheaper than that.

Barry's Tickets has lower level tickets starting at $27 (200 level) and dead center ice (sec 102) for $47. Those probably go for double at the box office. The one good thing about Barry's is there are no service charges and you can will call them to an office right next to Staples. Look for "electronic delivery" on stub hub to save on shipping/will call charges. Then you don't have to worry about picking them up.

San Diego to LAX can be as short as 2.5 hours and the sky is the limit during rush hour. That drive is so unpredictable. A weekday late morning/early afternoon shouldn't be too bad. Weekends it is really hard to say.

Yes and generally yes

They do limit the number of people who can see the rookie camp/tourney games. THey usually pass out free tickets before hand

Hi. I'll be visiting L.A. this week. I'm just wondering does anyone know where the best place is to buy Kings merchandises? I'm looking for hats, jerseys and Kings official game pucks. And also, is there any place that offers some discounts?

Your best bet is the official team store at the Staples Center.

Sporting good stores" Dick's/ big 5" will have some stuff but Raiders gear is easier to find than Kings stuff. Also most malls have a sport store that sells stuff from every sport but once again the Kings stuff will be half a rack in the back

We used to take a yearly trip up to Santa Maria in the fall. The Wal-Mart up there used to be packed with Kings stuff. Really weird. No idea if it still is.

Hi everybody.

I'm going to LA next week, and I'd really like to go see the Kings against the Oilers and/or the Sharks.

Where do I have to buy tickets?

That's what I get @ NHL.com :

Tickets Not Available Online

Tickets are currently not available online for one of the following reasons. Please check back for availability.

Tickets may not be on sale yet
Tickets may not be available at this time. More tickets may become available later
Tickets may not be available online just hours before an event occurs
On rare occasions, tickets may only be available at ticket outlets or the box office

Hi all. I'm planning to take the family down to Southern California in late March to take in a couple of Jets games vs. the Kings and the Ducks. My question concerns the use of small digital cameras. Do the allow them in the Staples Center? I wouldn't have thought it to be an issue until I read an on-line blog from a pair of tourists who started taking photos upon entering the Staples Center doors and had their cameras taken away from them by security. Has anyone else had this type of experience? I would hate not to be able to take photos to capture our trip memories.

So I finally might be getting to LA in January. I've got a conference for work in Claremont but I'm wondering how long it would take to get from LA to there in the morning. How bad is the traffic?

This depends greatly on day and time.
If no traffic figure 40 minutes
With traffic it could add an hour or more

Are cameras allowed inside STAPLES Center?

Yes! Non-professional, non-flash, still photography is permitted at most events (disposable, digital, or 35mm cameras with no interchangeable or telephoto lens). Video and audio recording is prohibited. Please note that some shows will have a different camera policy. Please see the specific event page or contact contact Guest Services for further information.
http://www.staplescenter.com/guest-s...nformation-faq

I know people have said in the past that if you bring a camera with a giant lens, you will probably be asked to have it held with guest services until you leave.

It depends where in LA you are going but I grew up in Claremont and used to work in Downtown LA when I lived there. The commute is a nightmare in rush hour. By rush hour I mean between the hours of 6am-9am going west and 3:30pm-7pm going east on the 10 freeway. The only way to make it semi-tolerable will be to carpool and that requires 3 riders during those hours. They also sell Fastrak passes to use in the carpool lane as a toll lane. If you rent a car and they offer that to you for an add'l charge, it may be worth it. I had that offered to me while I was in Georgia and regretted not getting it. I have no idea if that offer that here as we only have a handful of toll roads and most are in OC but the 10 freeway recently changed its carpool lane to include solo drivers paying a toll. For a ridiculous amount I might add (upwards of $5 each way at peak hours).

The other option you have to get to LA from Claremont is on the Metrolink train. There is a train station with free parking in downtown Claremont. That train will take you to Union station in Downtown LA. From there you can get on the red/purple line Metro subway and take that to 3 different stops in Downtown LA, Koreatown, Wilshire and Hollywood. If you want more info on this, I can give you more detail just let me know specifically where you are going.

I recommended you eat mexican food while you are in LA. Patty's in Claremont is a fantastic hole in the wall fast food mexican joint worth checking out. They are vegetarian friendly too.

http://www.yelp.com/biz/pattys-mexican-foods-claremont

And if there is anything else you are looking for in and around Claremont, feel free to ask. I presume you'll be visiting the colleges. There are a ton of good restaurants in the Village.
