or maybe they dont want him to get hurt and are trying to trade him for something even if it has to do with taking back a contract with the same cap hit

Here are highlights from the last game against Bridgeport. Plays to note:

0:33 - Great play by Kristo in the neutral zone to steal the puck from De Haan and send in Jean/Haley on a 2 on 1 for the goal.

2:05 - Great play by McIlrath to skate into the zone, hold off two defenders and slip a perfect little backhand pass to Fast who finds Lindberg for the easy goal.

The video is borked at the end so you can't see the Kristo goal.

Bob Crawford tweeted Asham is injured. What does he know? He only works for the team and does the games.

Asham missed the last game too.

Trade him for who?

The Rangers are taking just a $75,000 cap hit for Asham being in the AHL.

Dylan's goal was a wrist shot from the point. The puck had eyes. Traffic in front of the net. He leads the Rangers and Pack D in goals. Its his 3rd.

Fast got hurt last night

Quote:
Right wing Jesper Fast sprained his ankle playing for the Rangers’ AHL affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack, in Saturday’s 3-2 loss to the Springfield Falcons. Fast reportedly was not putting any weight on leg while being helped off the ice during the first period.

Fast made the Rangers’ roster out of training camp and played eight of 10 games while on the roster, before the Blueshirts sent him down to the AHL on Monday night to make room for Hagelin, who returned from injury.

Fast was minus-five with no points in those eight games but, when healthy, he remains on the short list of players the Rangers would call up when they require an extra forward.

With the Ducks and Penguins upcoming as opponents, it wouldn’t be surprising to see either Danny Kristo or Marek Hrivik get a call-up.

Some Ds are learning to get an insane zip on those wristers from the blueline with these new sticks. McIs wristers from the blueline are turning into a nice weapon for HFD. Nice too see.

He's had what, 2 or 3 leg injuries specifically? That's concerning. It may not affect him completely now, but definitely could down the road if they start breaking down prematurely.

Hopefully it's just a string of bad luck. I like his potential as a two way player.

Fast suffered the really bad leg injury. Broken ankle in 11-12. He suffered a knee injury last season. Fast aggravated that injury when he played for Whale. Ankle sprain last night.

Well a sprain is better than a tear or a break. Put on the boot and rest up Jesper. Hoepfully it's only 2-3 weeks.

He's a lot like Cally in that the way he plays, he'll probably never be an an 82 game a year player.

He'll be 22 soon so he can start to add more muscle now and during the offseason really strengthen his lower core more than anything he has ever done.

Yeah, but Cally got to be healthy for those important years when he established himself.

Its important years right now for Fast for sure.

Ola, I definitely agree with you but Cally also was banged up his first few years as a pro.

He missed all of training camp in 2006-07 because of a knee issue, and he also missed time the next season after he collided with Dawes came back, didn't play well, and then went to Hartford before he got his game on track.

It's important for Fast to gain more weight without losing his speed. Something he's gonna have to work on in the future if he wants to be a big part of the Rangers in the future.

Dylan McIlrath

I was wondering if anyone got any update on him? How is he doing? I saw that he has 6 points in 12 GP in the AHL, half of them are goals.

I remember hearing about Shea Weber being a similar player in the juniors, just to progress into an offensive threat later on in his career.

Is he gonna become a 4-6 hardhitting, physical D or do you see a Weber lite, lite version. That is better defensively than your typical creaseclearing "goonish" D, with better offense as well.

Or is he "just" a physical goon type of a D?

Except for his point totals, how has he been this year?

Total bust Cam Fowler wah.

For reals though McIlrath has been developing nicely. Good positional play, has an underrated point shot, beats up people regularly, and he is on track to being a very solid top 4 physical defenseman, though I'm not sure he'll be top pairing.

If Kyle Jean didn't mess his knee up, McIlrath would be in the NHL by now.

Should have taken Tarasenko though. Too late now.
