Let me see if I learned correctly from Avs fans...

Nobody's cheering that Downie is injured. We're cheering what a beautiful and fantastic punch that was by Volpatti.

Punches like that are the reason I love hockey.

Downie got smoked. Keep your guard hand up next time kid!

Yeah, no, still feel like a d-bag. Not a fan of the player, but hate to see anyone get injured. Hope there's no long-term damage.

Watching a couple of numbers being retired last night made me realize that we are getting close to having the same thing done. Legwand won't be around a lot longer. I'd imagine Erat will have his number retired. I would love to see us retire Vokoun's number.

I'm not sure any of those guys will have their number retired. I could possibly see Legwand - franchise scoring leader, first draft pick, etc... But even that is a stretch IMHO. Jersey retirement should be for guys that set league records in your team's sweater.

Meh, jersey retirement is for the fans. Save the rest of that for the HHOF.

I don't see Erat or Lewand's numbers being retired. Weber will be the 1st guy to have his number retired. Rinne is a possibility as well but that is years down the line.

I have a hard time believing Legwand's won't be if he re-signs. First Predator draft pick and possibly 1200+ games at the rate he's going? His number will be the first to go up.

I don't think Legwand will either, just because you were the first first round draft choice of a franchise, doesn't mean you automatically get your number retired.

Legwand will if he finishes here I think. You don't play 1200 games for a team and not get it. Anyone know of anyone who played 1200 games with one team and did not?

Hey there. Just popping in to say Matt Halischuk just got the go ahead goal off of nothing else but hard work. Scheifele worked for the loose puck in behind the Detroit net, Setoguchi picked it up and passed to Halischuk in the slot, who made no mistake on the shot.

Good for Halischuk. Mabye he can actually stay in the NHL. Seems like a good guy and a harder worker.

He's been pretty noticeable on the 3rd line, and he seems to be drawing some decent chemistry with Frolik and Scheifele.

No he didn't. Halischuk is no better than Spaling, and likely would be a healthy scratch most nights.

Halishcuk's goal tonight improves his stat line for the season to 1g, 2a, -5. His work ethic is great, but the fact he's a wing made him expendable in Nashville. Spaling with the same 1g, 2a, but an even +/- in fewer games played.

+/- is a very up and down stat.. we don't need spaling at this point. gaustad mainly for defensive draws and plenty of PK duties for other forwards. best of luck to hali who showed some offensive upside in limited ES time here

Both are bottom six forwards but Spaling provides more roster flexibility.

We absolutely need Spaling right now given Fisher is out again because of another injury. I'd much rather have Spaling fill in for an injured Center than a call up from MIL.

I'll defer to adsfan's current appraisal of Watson. Based on last season, I don't think Watson is just quite ready yet. Spaling's defensive game can be relied on, he's not bad on the cycle game, and is capable of chipping in the occasional goal. Let Watson continue to hone his game in Milwaukee. He'll get his shot before long.

You guys who want the youngsters to earn their stripes, do you not remember the Preds record the last 4-6 weeks of last season??? That's what you'll get with Watson, Beck, and Forsberg trying to replace Fisher. I'm not wasting my time to look it up, but I can tell you it was bad. Watson over Spaling replacing the two-way role that Fisher plays is asking for a disaster.

The whole freaking team was bad last year. Forsberg had never played an NHL game. All indications from training camp say that Watson was bigger and stronger than he was last year.
Besides the point is Watson over Spaling not Fisher. If Borki cannot produce than Beck.
