Weircioch has lost confidence he's much better than he is showing right now. Wish they would just lessen his load and let him play through it.

He and his wife had their first child (a girl) a few weeks ago. There were some health problems, my guess is that this is related.

Nikitin in, Savard out.

Actually all of the d-men have been struggling but only Gryba and Wiercoch get benched. Everyone should be taking a turn in the press box besides Methot and Karlsson for obvious reasons.....Maclean is sending the wrong message when it is always the same guys sitting.

yup, hope his daughter gets well soon. Foligno and his wife were very active in the Ottawa community and with CHEO and wish them nothing but the best. He came back to Ottawa after he was traded to fulfill a promise he made to a dying boy and then was a pallbearer at his funeral.....he and his wife are good people

Am I the only one who really liked Michalek and Smith on Sunday? Love that as a third line.

They were great together. Just pure domination a long the boards.

Could be a good checking line that contributes offensively. I don't really think Neil is the best long term solution there though. Maybe they could get Pageau on their right side eventually?

Here's hoping this is the game that helps this team turn it around and go on a hot streak. I think we win 4 to 2.

Zibanejad looked great there. The initial line was Michalek-Smith-Zibanejad and right from their first shift they kept the opposing team hemmed in their end for two minutes.

I'd rather Zibby with Spezza though, so put Condra when he's healed. Helps the possession even more.

Michalek-Smith-Condra !

Zibanejad has looked good with Spezza. Getting a left winger like Conacher up there would make for a very nice line, but Greening will have to do.

Whatever gets Conacher off the 4th line is fine with me.

Conacher and Zibby's speed could really help Spezza while he's dealing with his groin injury.

This is my thinking as well. It's so nice having quality bottom 6 lines. I'd still rather Pageau and have Condra with Grant but it should work well in theory.

As an aside, Face off numbers are really improving for this team. That's probably more of a function of playing games at home but Turris has brought his % up to 47.4 after he was around 40 to start the year. Grant is delivering with 52.8%. He's been perfect for that role.

Edit: upon further review, Turris' home fo% is 55.0. So yeah, definitely a big part of this is home ice.

I'm really down with a line of
Milo - Smith - Neil

Each would have a defined role. All can be very good defensively. And it forces Michalek to be the go-to shooter. I like it.

I like the Smith line a lot on Sunday, thought Smith and Michalek both were playing well.

Now if Neil can can at least do something positive on the right side maybe MacLean has the makings of two solid lines.

Very interested to see how the Spezza line works tonight, hope Conacher get a few shifts with Spezza and Zibby think those two might be a good fit for Cory.
