Yeah but was he all over the ice? That's the real question.

Today against the Bruins he was robbed several times and set up so many quality chances. Eventually these will start to fall. He will be over 90 points by season's end. His big problems are having a revolving door of line mates and playing left point on the PP. Bylsma is not putting him in a situation to succeed and won't until his line mates recover because he will not break up KCD. His positioning on the PP is baffling because he plays the half wall much better than Sid. Sid should be playing low because of his amazing deflections and board work.

Hopefully DB keeps Megna on his line for now, knowing him though i doubt that happens .

I don't see him getting 80 points over a span of 69 games

The guy got 109 points with 50 goals in 75 games in 2012. Not crazy to think he can score at or near that clip again. Maybe his slump is happening at the beginning of the year and 10 points in 13 games isn't that bad of a slump.

Neal basically hasn't played a game all year yet. He tried to play game one but left early because of the injury. His eventual return will help Malkin.

I think the points will come. Not sure about the goals. Geno's best goal scoring numbers seem to happen when Sid is out. I think because he defers a little more when Sid is on the ice with him on PP's etc.

I liked what I saw of him last night. Though for what he's paid he has to bury one of those great scoring chances he had last night. But if he keeps up that effort when Neal and Bennett return I see no reason why he can't go on a tear and challenge the league leaders in points. Catching Crosby could be a stretch, especially when they share PP time, but he's only 8 behind Stamkos. That's not unattainable for a player of Malkins talent.

Pittsburgh and Boston have a ton of talent and Malkin was the best player on the ice last night. He is playing well, the score sheet just doesn't reflect that

Malkin is a cheapshotting floater. That said, at his worst he's a 70 point player, he's just too talented.

He's sitting at 13 in 15. I think Malkin can realistically roar back this season.

I dunno... right now it seems he is pulling an Ovechkin with his poor performance last year as well.

Plus right now Malkin relies too much on the empty net point these days it seems.. I believe he already has 3 points from empty net goals this year.

why does everyone have to roar back? Why can't they just guffaw back?

Malkin now sits 35th in NHL scoring and 143rd in goals scored and is 10 games now without a goal

Can James Neal light a fire under him?

The performance of Malkin with his talent is simply unacceptable.. does he even care anymore?

Malkin's generally been well short of his standards this year. But to write him off would be pretty stupid...the guy goes on tears where he's just about unstoppable.

As i always say. If crosby is healthy Malkin roles get reduced and he has a down year. He seem to thrive being the #1 on the team.

Still a great player regardless.

Not sure about that, he won his first Art Ross in 2009 when Crosby finished 3rd in scoring and played 77 games.

Malkin's won an Art Ross trophy with Crosby healthy all season. He's also won a Conn Smythe with Crosby being healthy the entire playoffs. So I'm not sure how accurate it is that he only thrives when he's the "#1 on the team".

He's not been that great this season, but hopefully he can snap out of it soon. With Neal's return, he finally has a winger he's got chemistry with.

Can someone bump this thread after Milbury (or anyone for that matter) calls Malkin out for poor performance.

Malkin with another pointless game tonight.

still with only 3 goals on the year.. and he has James Neal back.

Tonight he was a -3 and was only 25% on the draw..
