I happen to agree with you, but as a double underager and the fact he only gets 1 game at the SSS suggests to me that he's a long-shot to make it and will most likely be cut for a 19 year old who isn't half the player Dal Colle is. That's HC's MO or least that how they've been doing things for the past 5 years or so...it will be interesting to see if the new scouting staff and no nonsense coach will want to change things up and step on a few toes there in the Calgary offices.

And what is Dumba's status in Minni? Staying or back to the WHL? I see he has hit the 9 game mark. Haven't seen a Minni game yet, so no idea how he has played.

Jonathan Drouin - Connor McDavid - Anthony Mantha
This line has serious potencial to win games by itself, lots of elite level skill and Connor will finally have guys on his line that can finish the passes he sets up.

Hunter Shinkaruk - Bo Horvat - Max Domi
Shinkaruk has played amazing so far this season and the Lodon boys have proven their chemistry over two years. This can be a solid second scoring line

Nic Petan -Scott Laughton - Curtis Lazar
A good mix of defensive play and some offensive push. You can pretty much put these guys out in any situation.

Charles Hudon - Frederik Gauthier - Kerby Rychel
The pure shut down/ energy line. Good mix of shut down play and some grit.

Emile Poirier
Hard to leave this guy off the team with the season he is having, if one of the top 9 falter, look for this guy to run away with their spot

That's a hell of a lineup.

The way Finn has been playing, he definitely deserves a mention. The only thing in my opinion that's holding him back is how effective his skating will be at the international level, although its not bad. Its more deceptive than explosive. But he doesn't really have any real weakness.

Drouin - Reinhart - Mantha (this line has potential to win games itself)
Domi - Horvat - Shinkaruk
Hudon- Gauthier - Poirier (This is my Q line. Hope it'll spark some chemistry)
Rychel - Laughton - Lazar (bang em line, even though a "bang em line" might not be needed)
McDavid (everybody will be shocked when he is the last forward to make the team)

Reinhart - Pouliot
Morrissey - Nurse
Severson - Finn
Matheson

Paterson
Comrie
Fucale

Man, that second line could be really scary on the big ice.

whats the consensus here? Does McDavid play on the top 6 or 13th forward?

Personally, the "hate" some people on here not giving him a top 6 role is ridiculous. He is easily top 5 most skilled players in the CHL right now (maybe top 3) and he's not 5'9 or something like Petan (I'm a Jets fan, but he may not make it due to size).

I'd rather him be a top 6 forward. People wanted him to come up on fire this season and he's doing it yet they either leave him off the team or have him as the 13th forward. He's stronger then he was last season which is huge. He also has speed on top of speed which will be perfect on this big ice. Plus his IQ is off the charts.

It depends on how things go this year, I think. Does Team Canada want Drouin at Center or LW? If he's a center then the top 6 centers are Drouin and Reinhart, and Mcdavid is the 13th forward. If they go with Drouin as a LW and put him with Rienhart on the top line, then I see Mcdavid slotting onto a 'sheltered' second line role.

If Petan keeps up this pace (he will) then he's going to make this team. I think he may even have a chance to slot in as Mcdavid's winger. I'm also a Jets and I question Petan as a NHL prospect. His height could hold him back. Against Juniors he's simply a dominant player. He's too smart and too skilled not to make this team.

While I'm pumping Jets prospects I also think Morrissey is probably guaranteed to make the team. He's too good of a skater to leave back home when the tournament is on big ice. He proved that at the U18's, and Team Canada loves Team Canada players. I didn't know what to think of the Morrissey pick at first, but I've been blown away at how good of a skater he is.

I know there's a glut of D, but I wouldn't mind seeing the Nurse-Morrissey pairing from the u18's possibly make the team.

Both have been doing extremely well so far this season.

What's with Reinhart and not making any strides in production in junior?

No need to apologize for pumping Morrissey's tires.

GP 16 -- 6 G 14 A, 20 Pts (+6), Team Captain.

He's not just a good skater, he's a wonderful puck-mover, good defensively and he plays with intensity.

Size and defensive zone play mostly. I'm a big time Mcdavid fan, but I also don't think that as of this moment he's that much better than Reinhart. He will be, but right now for a short term tournament I could see why team Canada would want the older player in the top 6 role. I personally think Rienhart will be #1 center and Mcdavid will be the #2 center.

I agree. And another great 1995 born player. The richest and deepest collection of talent since the 1985 group.. I'd argue 1995>1985...
but I worry for next year's team, at least 10 players could very easily be in the NHL and not available. And seeing that the tournament is in Montreal and Toronto, that would be disappointing.

Allot of great D propects and someone will be on the outside looking in when all is said and done but the Morrissey Nurse combination were so good together at the U18's that it might make sense to give them a shot.

Gauthier will very much be a bubble player, he will be centering the fourth line if he makes it. Not the third over Laughton. I'm also not really sold on Domi at all

The roster as always will be stacked. But can they put it together in a short tournament, there are other great teams too! I certainly can't wait.

I know calling lines by number doesn't REALLY matter, but Scott Laughton will be the # 1 centre and best player on this team. This guy is WAY too good for Junior hockey.

Also I have a feeling the archaic thinking at Hockey Canada is coming to an end. We will see it at the Olympics and I think we will see it before then at the WJHC.

With all the Olympic talk in late summer, Hockey Canada seems ready to shed the mindset of giving edges based on age/experience, and I believe we will get the first taste of this with Connor McDavid. I see him being a huge offensive piece of this team and flat out one of the best players in the tournament.

It sounds cliche but if you haven't seen this kid play live...you have to see this kid play live. People near OHL towns, buy tickets. He is that good. 16 years old and absolutely shredded the U-18's with 8G/6A/14P in 7 games. I have zero doubt that will translate to the U-20's

Is Mantha a lock? He's been producing like crazy but is pretty one dimensional.

He is.

Rookie season: 0.92 pts/game
2nd season: 1.18 pts/game
3rd season: 1.67 pts/game

And that's being part of an offence that's basically driven by him and one other player. The Ice are not a great hockey team.
