i believe the 67s will still be playing out of the same arena the 67s arent going anywhere as their owner is stabile and has a lot of money at his disposal

Melnyk is going to relocate the Majors into the Hershey Centre, though... that's what I keep hearing.

Yes he is but the new arena in burlington will not be open untill 2008.Two ohl teams can not play out of the same rink.So they will move to ottawa while the rink is beeing built.

And where is the proof of this? Just would like to see some kind of confirmation.

K, was just wondering where this came from since I did not hear anything anywhere else. Personally I think Burlington is a terrible choice, that they should have went in NY or North Bay.

I agree -- but time will tell if it was a good idea or not. It's handy for any of the northern teams who are heading to Erie though. And it's easy to get to from Sarnia, London, Guelph, Kitchener, Mississauga, Brampton...

I'd have much rather seen something in the Niagara Peninsula or Buffalo area though. But maybe.... just maybe... London will be moved back to the western division. I think I could live with that!

I would have had a party if they moved to North Bay. A rival only a hour and half away. That would have been sweet.

I thought Melnyk owned the Ice Dogs.

Has that changed in the past week and I didn't know about it?

Maybe a stupid question, but how come Thunder Bay doesn't have a team?

The WHL makes it work...

I guess I was thinking Sudbury was closer to TBay than it actually is.

Why wouldn't Toronto stay at St. Mike's for the season? I have heard some rumblings mentioning Burlington, but your 'speaking with new owners' has me intrigued. Any chance you mention who the new owner group is? Past NHL'ers group? Past scout/nhl player group? Or someone from left field?

I just don't get this decision (if it is true).
Why stay in the watered-down GTA that doesn't support junior hockey?

11 hours in good weather. They would be better off being in the WHL travel wise.

For teams in southern ontario, Thunder Bay is the equivilant to driving to Flordia distance wise.

Burlington I can see, but Ottawa I can't. I don't see any way the 67's would allow another team to move in on their turf.

What a mess

What was the league thinking about allowing this latest thing with the Dogs and the Majors. Absolutely senseless. There is a proper order of events that the league should have followed.

Burlington? If it didn't fly in Hamilton twice, what good will it be trying in Burlington?

The greater Toronto area is a black hole for Jr hockey. can't figure out why it is not embraced more in places like Brampton, Mississauga, Toronto, Hamilton, etc. It is a good product. Maybe it is not being sold well? Who knows. But it hasn't worked. A second team in Ottawa? Please.

NY state seems an obvious choice to put a team. Or how about Toledo? Grand Rapids? Flint? (these would be a good fit in a division with Windsor, Saginaw, Plymouth, Sarnia)? I don't see a Canadian market that jumps out right now.

The NorthBay Sky Hawks are pulling in 3000+ a game. I think there fan base would support an OHL franchise. They lost it once I bet they would not again,.

I would love to see North Bay get a team again. And yes, they have come out in droves to support lower-level hockey. There's no doubt they would support an OHL club. I just don't know if there's the money to bring the club to town...
Is one reason they moved in the first place an outdated arena? Would the city be willing to pony up for a new palace for an OHL club?
