I'm still of the mind that the Habs should acquire a couple of 2nd and 3rd round picks, one of each. Vrana would make a great choice in the 1st, Ehlers and Middleton or Collins with the 2nd and 3rd, Audette would make a great 3rd round choice also.
How does the draft compare to the 2013 one, in term of talent early on and in term o depth? (I'm asking in term of potential of course, I know that we can hardly predict how a draft will pan out in the end).
Early thoughts, I want Dal Colle or Kempe in the CH!
If the Habs are picking in the top ten, they could get either of them. My pick if the Habs have a top ten pick would be Ritchie or Barbashev between 5-10 they should be there along with McKeown, Bennett and Perlini. All of them would be good picks to say the least and the 2014 Entry Draft is really heating up to a very deep one indeed.
Ivan Barbashev is going to be a good one. Russian that is going to stay in the NHL for a long time.
The Habs would have to get their "Hockey Gods" to come back with a vengeance for a shot at Barbashev. If by chance that happens then GM Marc Bergevin should make moves at the Draft to obtain Vrana and Ehlers. This would give the Habs a really speed demon line that could light up the league in the future. Imagine a line featuring Ivan Barbashev centering Jakub Vrana and Nikolaj Ehlers the two fastest skaters in this year's draft, all on one line. Speed, speed and more speed, the threat a line like that creates, forces their opponents too match them, leaving the other top nine players free wheeling against slower lines. Watching Tampa Bay's team speed tonight opens ones eyes to the way the NHL is headed, skating teams always have pressure on their opposition creating mistakes.
First off the Habs getting Sam Bennett is dreaming, not a chance in Hades of them drafting that high maybe 1st OV n'est ce pas. Ehlers and Vrana are possiblities no doubt, and Barbashev in the mix with Draisaitl and Ehlers are at least in the realm of possibilities. A GM could swing a trade for a top 15 pick giving the Habs 2 of 3 and Vrana an outside chance in the 2nd when it's all said and done.
