Kassian isn't even worth discussing in the same sentence as CoHo. The Sabres clearly won that deal, and the Canucks did the West a big favor.

Not sure why you quoted me, it's still not a big loss for us.

Yep. Kassian is a slug. That was a horrible trade.

LOL,

Kassian is a year younger than Hodgson

Kassian is far bigger, faster, stronger and tougher than hodgson

Kassian can fight and hit (and get suspended ). Hodgson does none of these things

Kassian plays on a half baked 3rd line, and gets no PP time at all. He gets 11 min a game.

Hodgson plays 20min a game on the Sabres top line with Thomas Vanek, and gets all kinds of juicy PP time.

There's a reason why Buffalo is a bottom dwelling team with Hodgson as their leading scorer and Canucks continually make it to the playoffs as Kassian as their 3rd line winger.

Nowhere there do I see where he can score....assist.... PP.....PK.....Play D. Please trade more quality players for stumps like Kassian. All I see are excuses for why he is poor especially when he was given top line opportunities then fell to the third line because pretty much everyone knows he will be a lifer 3/4th line guy after dragging the top line down. Except for the few Nucks fans that think he ends up being Cam Neely which has .00000000000001% chance of him being 1/4th of a Cam Neely power forward player.

There's a reason that hodgson plays more for his team than kassian. I'm not sure how much kassian contributes to the Canucks success. They have one playoff win since that trade. Not series win. One game. So using your logic against you, there's a reason the Canucks were one game away from winning it all with hodgson and are first round fodder with kassian.

You forgot to include that Hodgson can actually play the game of hockey in the NHL and be good at it, Kassian can not.

I don't like that trade for the Canucks ..but to write off Kassian isn't a smart thing to do.
He has skill, he can skate really well for a big man, he's mean he can hit and he's shown he can produce points at the junior / AHL level.

Power forwards take a while to develop... is he putting up 60 points this year? NOPE...but he's an interesting asset and he's only 22 years old.

That trade favored Buffalo for sure... but you cant write off a young 225lb 6'3 powerforward that can skate.

Not write him off. But play him where he belongs which is on the 4th line. 3rd line is his ceiling. Hodgson's ceiling is top line.

I think we should stay on topic with Stanton instead of this Kassian thing that is all over HF.

I love how we're swarming in here and updating HF Chicago on how he's doing. And as loopy as it seems, I as a Canucks fan suggest we keep this on topic.

Stanton's played very well though, TBH. Granted, I haven't seen much of Brookbank but I can't believe he's rated higher on your depth chart than this guy.

Q likes vets and Brookbank brings some physical aspects (+ can fight) that is limited on our roster

And Brookbank was fine in #7 role of cup winning team last year so he sorta earned the advantage vs a unproven rookie

Someone (maybe Scott Powers) wrote that management thought Kostka would probably be claimed, but that they might get Stanton through waivers. Obviously not. We were bound to lose somebody. I was hoping Stanton would become our #7, but with Olsen/Dahlbeck showing improvement we are still arguably 9 or 10 deep at the back.

Just wanted to say Thanks, this guy has been awesome for us. Dropped the gloves tonight because of Dejardins snow shower on Luongo. He can do it all!

And for that Kassian stuff 3 goals in last 5 games. No assists this season though lol

Coach Q and his veterans will be the eventual death of me.

Each coach has its flaws but Coach Q overall has been fantastic for you guys.

Article on Stanton also talks about his experience with the blackhawks and his day with the cup

Stan Bowman should realize by now, that in the salary cap era, it's better to release a veteran one year too early than one year too late. Coach Q milked what he could from Handzus and Roszival in last year's Cup run. It should have ended right there with both those players. Now Stanton is Vancouver and Rozsival looks like he aged 10 years this past summer.

It looks like he's giving Pirri more of a shot at 2C now over Handzus now though, no? That's the impression I've been getting.

Yeah Hodgson is the reason why the Sabres are bottom dwellers and Kassian is the reason why the Canucks are a great regular season team

Yup, I don't understand why this thread keeps getting re-hashed. We don't care about Stanton.

Between Tanev and Stanton Van fans have a seriously weird obsession with bottom pairing defenders.

And also "coming in peace" after they beat us in the regular season and telling us what a good game it was
