That said, I was a Canucks fan before the Jets came back so I remember the "value" or whatever of Schneider as he got better and better. Gillis got bent over not having any leverage for sure, but... A better goalie that was even more proven than Lehner got back a player 4-5 years away from making the type of impact Kane is right now. I'd temper my expectations a bit if I was you.
It's not a question of tempering expectations.

The thing is, almost to a man, there isn't a single Sens fan that wants to trade Lehner in any capacity whatsoever right now. The price is high because none of us want to see him gone at all, and to even get us to consider moving him would require overpayment.

You can't be serious here.

We're talking value, not worth. I wouldn't either, maybe for Kane but definitely not for Bogosian.

It's about how much the player actually brings to the team. Of course another big shot skater would be nice, but there hasn't been a player that has been so exactly what we needed, other then Karlsson, come through our own organization in a long time, and I stress the part that he comes from the Sens through the draft because it is very important. Especially seeing as how he's already playing incredible. He's just too important.

But nobody here is arguing that (right now) Lehner>Kane

People don't ever value goalies high enough, especially elite ones. If Lehner can maintain any semblance of the type of performance he's been giving lately he's more valuable than any player on Winnipeg...and yes, that is very serious.

If Evander Kane can maintain any semblance of the other players in the past decade to put up 30 goals at 20 years old or younger he's pretty valuable as well. That's an NHL season being used as a reference, not 32 career NHL games of work.

It would a beautiful trade for the jets if it could happen, but it won't. Lehner is reaching god status with Sens fans and they might be right. Lehner could very well be the next big thing in goalies.

It would take kane to get Lehner, even then the Sens might not give him up.

Buff for Lazar is somewhat realistic, but the Sens would have to add.

There's a reason there's many Sens fans that want to trade Anderson right now. Lehner's has the pedigree, he's shone in games in the NHL, and a lot of us have put a very high ceiling on him.

One does not simply ask for Lehner. One does not simply ask for lazar unless its for a legit number 1 shut down d.

The value of this trade feels like Trouba and Mark Scheifele for buff imo from a value perspective.

Makes no sense for the Sens. Karlsson, Wiercioch and Ceci is enough offense from the backend.

People should just not make offers for Lehner at this point in time. It's clear that the long term plans involve us moving Anderson at some point, and Lehner will be the 10+ year stud we'll move forward with.

You want an Ottawa goalie, you should be making proposals for Anderson, not Lehner.

I don't think it's clear at all right now. Anderson really likes it in Ottawa and has made a bunch of money. There's no guarantee he won't mind being a tandem with Lehner...one can dream right?

Sens fans will want a king's ransom for Lehner. Don't even try.
