Or send yakupov down instead of putting him on the 4th line. Scratching him is stupid as well.

Brilliant player evaluation as usual. Simplify it. Miller for Eberle, straight up.

I think if he develops well, Miller could turn into a Brandon Sutter or Colin Wilson type of player. Decent to good two way play, some puck possession skills, points mixed in here and there. He has a ways to go.

In the eyes of Oilers managment, Eberle will be an Oiler forever. Forever is a long time, but, he's not a trade target.

He's not? How do you know this? He's been playing really well in Hartford.. makes sense.

Acton and either Jones, Gazdic or Yakupov out as they rotate wingers at practice. If Yak plays on 4th line#

Yakupov was terrible last night. His giveaway led directly to Stamkos' (first, I think) goal.

Im sure a guy with his head on straight like Yakupov, who is currently complaining about having to play a complete game, will react well to a demotion to Oklahoma City

Probably why he's taking turns on the 4th line now. Those guys are probably responsible in their own end.

It's not just the defensive play. He's a floater unless he has the puck, or thinks he can look eager enough to get someone to pass him the puck.

stunning that edmonton didnt take the western canadian boy murray when they needed a dman and he was about as safe a dman could come early in a draft.

And this different than the situation with Kreider how? You were so quick to defend Tortorella's decisions around Kreider but Yakupov gets special treatment? Kreider was sent down and he produced. You won't know what Yakupov will actually do until he is sent down regardless of him being a headcase right now.

You're looking at this as strictly a hockey move. The KHL flight risk cannot be ignored when handling a native Russian.

Trading away young talent when there are so many question marks is something that should be done VERY carefully. So unless there is something seriously amiss or it's a huge no brainer (which I don't believe in, see Nash trade), I don't see the Rangers doing anything.

Edmonton has so much young talent. I think they will be extremely careful as well.

Likelihood of Wayne Simmonds being available? I'd love to kick some tires on that.

Flyers will trade him to the Rangers once he becomes like Lindros injury prone with concussion issues. i bet the Flyers would take a little less so the he does not become part of the Rangers.

Neil Smith coveted Dave Manson. Sather had acquired Manson from Keenan and the Hawks for Steve Smith. Neil actually went on the road to personally scout Manson at a time when Smith rarely scouted anymore. Sather wanted a ton. He ended up shipping him to John Paddock and the Jets for a ton.

Winnipeg 1st rounder from 1993 Mats Lindgren,Winnipeg's #1 in 1994(Jason Bonsignore),Bobo Mironov for Manson. He was a good player. Not a great player. Lindgren and Bonsignore never realized their potential.

Quote:
It's no secret that the Rangers are hoping to trade a few of their excess forwards for an offensive defenseman -- preferably Edmonton's Dave Manson, whom Smith watched play in Winnipeg and Minnesota this weekend. It's also no secret that the Rangers and Turcotte began arbitration far, far apart -- about $400,000 apart -- in their stances and that Smith isn't pleased with the situation.

Good defenseman have value.

No one wants to be the GM that gave up an annual 30 goal guy for a former offensive defenceman that has a hard time producing offence while being suspect defensively.

Neal since the trade has 62 goals - Goligoski has a total of 72 POINTS

I think GM's are hesitant to make THAT mistake again?

MDZ will have to be packaged with something else to get that kind of winger.

Not going to happen one for one.
"Not wanting to be the GM that got burned" didn't stop the naslund, sharp or mcdonagh trades. Trading from a position of weakness will always produce gamble type trades.

Edmonton is in a position of weakness.
