Who would you guys rather acquire, Eberle or Yakupov? Obviously Eberle is the safer player, but Yakupov could be the best goalscorer this team has had since LeClair.

I think I'd take the risk on Yakupov. It's been a while since this team took a risk on an actual supremely talented forward like Yakupov. I'd be thrilled to see either though, obviously.

There's absolutely no way in hell that Edm is trading Jordan Eberle for a guy who has stone hands, can't play defense and can only score when **** bounces off him on the power play and a defenseman who's been scratched the past 3 games on the 2nd to worst team in the league.

It's just not going to happen.

It just seems strange, but respected media members are saying it. It seems like it has legs.

Hemsky just seems like a throw in also, he has been dreadful outside a few games. Just moving salary

I'd rather trade Coburn than Luke Schenn because like a previous poster said, I'd hate giving up on a young d-man.

A young D-man? He's 24. Coburn is 28. What is the difference between young and old 26?

you do you think of this blockbuster deal:

To Philly
-Eberle
-Hemsky
-Klefbom

To Edm:
-Schenn
-Schenn
-Simmonds
-Mez

mez=hemsky (salary dump)
2x schenn for eberle
simmonds for klefbom

I think the two teams would fill hole with this trade!!!

i think Mez has little to no trade value. going to take one desperate ****ing team to take him off the Flyers hands.

He'd be a good depth defender for a team making a playoff run at the trade deadline. I wouldn't anticipate much return.

Eberle would be the safer bet. As much as people overrate the russian factor in the NHL I think it is a risk in this case.

However Id still trade for Yakupov if it were up to me. Like you said he has potential to be an elite scorer. Someone that could flourish with Giroux, or in this case get him to start producing this season. Eberle is a safer bet to become a good player but Yakupov has the potential to be elite.

I agree with this. I would be much more excited to get Yakupov, but it would concern me. I wonder what Edmonton would expect in return?

Probably something involving one of B. Schenn, Couturier, Voracek, Mason, our 1st. None of which the Flyers should be moving IMO. If the Oilers ask for that (and they should ask for one of them) I would just hang up the phone.

Edmonton probably doesn't accept it and I don't know how Flyers fans feel about it, but I would give Laughton, Simmonds, and Coburn for Yakupov. Maybe even throw a late pick in there. Yakupov replaces Simmonds in the top 6 and gives Giroux a scorer. Laughton and Yakupov were drafted in the same year so we're not getting and older really. Coburn is one of our better defenders but as it's been said before in this thread, this defense is on the verge of a rebuild. This could give Schenn and chance to step up and start playing like he did last year. Guys like Alt, Lauridsen, Gustafsson can also get some more NHL time in replacing Coburn. Or Meszaros could play more! plus Morin and Hagg are on their way. Losing Simmonds and Coburn also opens up more long term contract space.

I doubt EDM moves Yakupov anyway.

giroux for bryzgalov? seriously tho can we get rid of holmgren now, please? Hextall's burnin a hole in my pocket. i wanna get him in there and get him going. holmgren's time is done. he's a complete mess who's confidence as a G.M is gone. this is just slow death at this point. But good news is I'm sure Hexy talked homer into getting rid of simmonds tho. so maybe he's starting to exert some influence already anyway.

24 is young for a defender. 28 is not old, it's the start of prime time for most.

I personally like B.Schenn too much to give him up.

Also Klefbom alone is not enough for Simmonds.

Big, physical, mobile, some offense.
Projects to be a top4.

I'm cautiously curious what happens. Honestly, I wouldn't care much about anyone being traded for Eberle - outside Giroux and Couturier (I love his offensive play this year) and Mason.

I would cry if Voracek was gone, but I would more than understand if he was part of a trade that could land us some current/potential no. 1D. But that's something completely off topic in this thread because there's literally nothing like this to get from the Oilers.

The biggest problem with trading Schenn is that we're selling at an all-time low after buying at an all-time high. I keep him until he turns it around or we get a fair offer for his under-rated abilities.

I agree - I am not a fan of doing business that way. I still gripe about the Versteeg deal; trade our first, keep him for 20 games, trade him for a 2nd. It's the Bizarro world of the stock market.
