Amazing that Penner and Raymond signed for $2 mil and $1 mil and could only get 1 year deals, but somehow Clarkson is worth a blank chequebook ($5.25 mil for 7 years). Sometimes I just do not get how GMs value players.

lets be honest here.. Penner's three strides and glide is enough to beat most defenders. Sometimes the momemtum he gains from stepping on ice is enough for the whole shift. He's amazing.

Yes, gravity is not pulling his face and head down anymore --> better stance, better skating

What do you expect when your team cant score on the PP and can only score 5 on 5?

They also have a horrible PK %.... maybe they are feeding teams PP goals to prevent getting minuses and intentionally not scoring on the PP... try to skew the fantasy stats.

IINM, this is Penner's second straight one-year contract. Given that Penner stayed in market, I wonder how much the Kings regret letting him walk.

Good for him, The whole Anaheim team has been playing some great hockey so far this year.

Last year too...I don't get why people think we suck. Every off season the tOilers are making the playoffs and the ducks are. then reality happens.

I don't think the Kings regret letting him walk. I doubt he'd be the same player with the Kings. Boudreau's really seems to get the maximum out of the offensive side of the game and, more importantly, the players really seem to enjoy it. Letting Penner go out and just play hockey isn't something that was going to happen under Sutter.

This, and it was more a cap issue than anything.

Again, I'm definitely happy to see him resurgent, but just like most players leaving the Kings, their raised point totals wouldn't have happened here (see Purcell, Loktionov, etc.).

Basically, if you want a higher contract, DONT COME HERE!

Mind you they havent been on the same line the whole season but the ppg line is one point off a ppg each. The game last night really showed what Penner can bring. IM glad he is getting some pp time also, big body in front of the net is what we need now.

With all the post before, the hard back checking and hustle and desire to play the game, he is also making plays. His cycling abilities have been right up there with Getz and Perry, there were a few shifts against Phoenix where that line dominated the whole shift in the offensive zone and Penner was an integral part of that, not just riding the coat tails of Getz and Perry

Keep it up Penner, we love it

Penner's plus-18 rating through his first 11 games this season is the highest by any NHL player since PIT's Sergei Zubov (95-96).

He's a different player than last year. My guess is Getzlaf whipped him into shape.

I had a good feeling about him when he was signed, but after seeing him at training camp, I wasn't too excited, and thought he'd definitely be put on the 3rd or 4th line. He really turned up his game when the season started. That whole line did really.
