Chara was at Baton Rouge

I went to the Baton Rouge on Monday night for the first time. It was about 8:00 and I saw Zdeno Chara! My girlfriend didn't believe me and she got up to see if it was him.

So I am hoping he decides to go back to Baton Rouge at about 6:30 tommorrow eveing and orders some baby back ribs and forgets where he is supposed to be and has to call the coach.....

Did you go the Kanata Centrum or Consitution Square location?

He might have just been checking up on his franchise, if he still owns it anyway. Even if he doesn't who can resist the allure of some delicious honey BBQ ribs?

I could go for some right now...

Didn't Chara say over the summer (after he signed with the Bruins) that he likes this city a lot and still lives here?

The entire Bruins team (34 people overall) ate at Baton Rouge tonight.

I did hear that he owns part of Baton Rouge, but that's just what I heard.

He was also building a massive house in Manitock next to my friends parents last spring, so yeah, he loves it here. Things just don't work out.

Very cool that they all went there. I think I would find it hard to get up and say something to him. As mentioned before, I have no ill will for the guy and wish him the best. I do believe he likes Ottawa and we'll be a special place in his heart.

Chara was quoted over the Summer in the Ottawa Sun as wanting to start up a travel agency here when he retires with Marian.

That makes me

I think it's really cool that some former players love Ottawa enough to maintain homes here, plan to come back here after retirement etc. especially since they have so many options. It really is a great city, perfectly sized in my opinion, and I plan to come back there after I finish school. Even just to watch more Sens games!

It is as great spot

More importantly, we can't forget what the players did during their time here. I don't judge them on winning a cup or not, but yeah, that would be nice.

Chara never said anything bad about the team here, or the city. Always said nice things, and played well in his Sens uniform.

Someday he may come back. And I don't want Ottawa to wine and complain like Edmonton does with Pronger.

I'm looking forward to this game being over with, so we can move on. Hopefully the boo's will be to a minimum and short lived.

I don't think there will be boos unlike with Pronger in Edmonton, I mean it was the team's choice to let him go because I remember him stating that they didn't even give him a serious offer and they didn't even call him on free agent deadline week, whereas Pronger had a long term contract with the team and he snubbed them (even though I think the Oilers got a pretty good return for him).

This was posted before from a couple years ago

http://ca.geocities.com/senssmaq/BigZ.htm

Quote:
Zdeno Chara is an exacting patron. Seated in a corner of Kanata’s Baton Rouge restaurant, he orders a glass of water, a salad — “a regular salad, no dressing” — and grilled chicken on a bed of pasta — “just tomato sauce” — but he’s worried about the chicken. “Who’s in the kitchen?” he asks the waitress. “Is Joseph there? Joseph knows how to make it.”
Among other things, Joseph knows to give Chara twice the regular portion of chicken in the Chicken Primavera and two pieces of filet mignon, not just one, when he orders steak. He goes heavy on the protein.
Chara avoids anything fatty, anything soaked in oil or fried. No french fries. No mashed potatoes. He eats his vegetables steamed, without butter or sauce. It’s all part of a Lance Armstrong-inspired philosophy about what it takes to win in competition against some of the world’s best hockey players.
At the elite level, Chara believes, the difference between players is modest, a fact that magnifies the importance of small advantages won in the weight room and at the dinner table.
“What you eat, when you eat it, how you train, when you train, what to train, it’s always the little extra that makes you a little better than the other guy,” he says. “It’s about what you are willing to pay, to sacrifice.”
Here's his MySpace:

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...endid=37770939

He said when he first went to Boston that he planned on retiring here in Ottawa but added that things may change in a couple of years, you just never know.

I find it a little odd though that in the article it says nothing about him eating the ribs but on his MySpace page under "Who I'd like to meet" it says the ribs at Baton Rouge. Hmm...
