Goalie Trivia: Masks

Can anyone tell me the first goalie to have a unique customized mask?

I've seen pics from the 80s, and most of them just have their team's logo on it. Anyone know the goalie(s) who started the individualistic style? and what year?

Cheevers mask...

Gerry Cheevers I believe was one of if not THE first to do it in the early 70's. He painted a stitch on his mask for everytime he got hit in it.

Although Cheevers came first, I seem to remember Chico Resch being one of the first to have the full "artistic" paint job.

EDIT: Yep, I was right. According to this website Cheevers was first but Glenn Resch was the first with the full paint job.
