I am pretty sure almost every player in the league would rather get the chance to compete for the cup than to not be held accountable for their defensive mistakes.

If he becomes Rafalski he will have to improve significantly in almost every area of play. I think people are miss remembering just how good Rafalski was.

That is true. Rafalski was a silky smooth and a great offensive dman, but seeing the Way that Krug controls the play at the offensive blue line and is basically the player running the offense is a thing of beauty.

I couldn't agree with this more. Brian didn't break into the league until 26-27, so Krug still has the potential to close the gap....Would be a lot of ground to cover (possible, but not likely).

Any chance he gets looked at by Team USA for Sochi? 2010's defensive core consisted of Jack Johnson, Erik Johnson, Tim Gleason, Brooks Orpik, Brian Rafalski, Ryan Suter, Ryan Whitney. I was thinking with the larger ice surface along with his quickness and speed and shot he might get at a least a look..?

What do you fans think?

really fun player with unique skill set. As a hab fan i like him but he benefits from playing on a team with lots of size on D and on the wing. if he played for the habs he'd be targeted a lot more (smaller team, less insulated)

Not a knock on Krug. Just Rafalski was something very, very special. Rafalski was an offensive dman, but he had that unique ability of being able to play 20+ minutes against the best of the best and not look out of place.

He could but USA is stacked on defense. I mean on top of the repeats of Suter, JJ, EJ, and Orpik there's Wizz, Yandle, Mcdonagh, Fowler, Byf and a few more. Gonna be tough picking 6 for team USA.

Torey admires the play of Pavel Datsyuk because "he's the most well-rounded player on the ice", and models his game after Zdeno Chára.
