OEL match-up against Ovi through out the game. Hold him scoreless on 5-5, and played him just great. (Ovi had 1 a on pp)

Take notice from Tippet, Mårts.

OEL - Kronwall
Edler - Brodin
Grossman - Hedman

Stockholm 2013: Sedin-Sedin-Eriksson

Eriksson has shown he can play with anybody, and in fact with all of our top centers.
I wasn't thinking so much about who fits with Eriksson as who fits with Daniel and Henrik. Seeing as the Sedins are the more important pieces it makes sense to optimize things for them, and it takes a certain playing style to function well as the third player on their line. Eriksson has proven that he gets it so he should be with them, no doubt.

It's between Eriksson and Steen for me. Strong along the boards, can cycle, can score. Depends a little, might want Steen to center a line if Zetterberg drops out on a wing.

Would be nice to see a Zetterberg + Steen + RW line.

Steen or Eriksson with the Sedins is pretty much a wash IMO. I would give the slight edge to Loui because Steener hasn't played RW for a pretty long time now.

But I would not let Steen center a line, he is so much more effective on the wing!!

I wouldn't be upset with him making the team, but he wouldn't be one of the eight defensemen I selected (Ericsson would currently be my eighth pick).

I'd like to spread out our talent and have 4 lines that are defensively sound and capable of scoring goals.

Sedin-Sedin-Silfverberg
Franzen-Zetterberg-Alfredsson
Steen-Bäckström-Eriksson
Landeskog-Berglund-Hörnqvist

Hagelin, Johansson

Karlsson-Hjalmarsson
OEL-Kronwall
Edler-Brodin

Hedman

Lundqvist
Lehner
Enroth

I don't think you should spread our talent all the way out to the extra forwards

Switch Hagelin with Hörnquist, and we can make a deal!

Edit: That is a badass 3rd line !

Had to create an account just to join the discussion!

Sedin - Sedin - Eriksson
Zetterberg - Bäckström - Steen
Landeskog - Berglund - Franzen
Hagelin - Kruger - Alfredsson
Johansson, Hörnqvist

Those are the forward lines I'd go with where i would consider them 1A/1B and 3A/3B regarding ice time and PP/PK duties. The Sedin line would obviously have pure offensive duties meaning PP1 and offensive starts. The Bäckström line I would consider second PP/scoring line while I would also give them main shutdown duties against the Crosbys and Malkins since they're all very skilled two way players. If capable of all that ice time Zetterberg/Steen would also be a great PK pairing.

The third line are three big bodies all playing a pretty straight forward hockey and putting alot of pucks on the net, also i could see Landeskog/Berglund as a PK pair. The fourth line I see as a nice combination of speed and responsible two way play, don't really like putting Alfredsson there but i see him playing alot of PP with the Bäckström line so that would compensate. Hagelin/Kruger would be good together on the PK.

Ekman Larsson - Karlsson
Kronwall - Brodin
Hjalmarsson - Oduya
Edler, Hedman

When it comes to defensive pairings I have a hard time making up my mind but I think this would work. Ekman Larsson - Karlsson might be a bit redundant on the same pairing but they're both good defensively too and should play alot of minutes in all situations except from too much tiring PK.

Kronwall - Brodin is a sound second pairing who can play all situations although i think Alfredsson should take Brodin's spot on the PP.

The third pair is mainly there for PK and defensive minutes. Oduya might not be top 6 based on skill but I think him and Hjalmarsson playing together on a regular basis is worth more than having for example Hedman in that position.

Lundqvist
Enroth
Fasth

Not much to discuss there really, Fasth could of course be switched for Lehner or someone else.

Söderberg and Zibanejad have looked good. I like them as the 4C. Kruger is a little bit to non-physical for my taste. But Söderberg is banned, so silly. Whats up with Berglund?

And lets not forget...only becuse its big ice doesn't it means it will be non-physical. The EHT and WCH have been pretty physical recent years. Especially when we face Russia which is pretty strange. Players like Grossman, Jonathan Ericsson and a physical 4th line are needed.

Berglund doesn't look that great, but we will hopefully not rely on him scoring. Zibanejad could perhaps be one of the "fast developing young guys" Mårts has mentioned, Johansson is another one.

Yep, our achilles heel. Too many physical guys and our talent pool diminish.

Maybe this team is the most physical we can assemble without sacrificing too much: (the BROTHER team!)

Sedin - Sedin - Eriksson
Zetterberg - Bäckström - Alfredsson
Steen - Berglund - Hagelin
Franzén - Ericsson - Hörnqvist
Axelsson

Ekman-Larsson - Karlsson
Kronwall - Kronwall
Ericsson - Hedman
Edler - Grossmann

Brodin

Lundqvist
Lindbäck (6'5)
Lehner (94%)

About Landeskog how good of a player is he? All star, potential Selke winner? Also should he play big minutes in Sochi?

If he plays well. Could possibly be PK-ing a lot.

Good one. As I believe someone pointed out earlier in this thread, Lundqvist has major problems keeping up with the EHT competition how do you think he will look against the likes of Crosby, Malkin and Datsyuk?

I don't believe he had any major problems. If he concentrate on one thing he will be fine.

I just watched the Czech game and I thought he was abysmal in that game, anyways Marcus Krüger is the best option as a 4th line center in my opinion he is 54% on the dot this season and is second among forwards in blocked shots.
