Had to bump the Benn goal up on the main board cause of the Kessel circle jerk haha.

He's busy being conditioned

At this point I'd take Rome over Goligoski.

I think that's the bigger issue at hand. If that falls on Nill or Ruff, I do not know.

We need some excellent talent on the backend, and we need it post haste.

Or the conference where that doesn't work.

This board is really live-or-die by every result. It's a long season, still.

He has handled the young guns great, his system got us to actually play good against teams like the Blackhawks, out shot differential is much better than last year. I like what he does in-game. The team is just not good enough, it is not Ruff's fault he is the brightest spot so far this season.

That falls on Nill, but I hope/think he's doing the smart thing believing the young guys in the AHL and Connauton will be ready to take bigger roles very soon ... like next season.

We've beaten to death, but you can want in one hand and **** in the other. What we need isn't out there. Nill's done a great job addressing needs, and it was unlikely that he'd be able to fix the team in one draft and one off-season. He doesn't get 3 or 4 years to figure out the D, but we're not even giving the dude a season at this point.

Agreed. The D he inherited from Joe Nieuwendyk + Nill's Gonchar signing aren't getting it done. That's not on him. I think he and Patrick honestly have the group playing as well as can be expected, and Benn and Robidas look better than last season under Patrick. Dillon has had ups and downs, but he's mostly been good. Plus he seems to really buy into Patrick's message.

Season's far from over, but history isn't on their side (That stupid, but surprisingly accurate November 1st stat). I just hope we see them keep getting better. Even that loss last night was a big positive compared to what we've seen against top competition.

Non playoff teams in the West are screwed though. Pretty much all of them are going to be picking late in the lottery. Would love to see them buck the trend and surprise some people and sneak in.

Why are Gonchar and Golioski still on the team? They both suck so much. Rome and Kconn would be a big upgrade over those scrubs.

Based on his AHL play ... no chance Rome is an upgrade over anyone. He hasn't shaken off the rust from the injury.

At the risk of sounding nationalistic, it would be cool to have an American who is good at hockey on the team again someday. It's been a while.

What is this nonsense I just stumbled on? I think it's safe to say I've gone too far into YouTube tonight.

Guys. I was drunk.

I haven't been a fan of his line combinations though. Seems to adapt incredibly slow.

I think that is a fair criticism of his coaching but he is at least changing things up a bit. It is hard to work when your lineup has too many nonproducers in it... Which is a serious issue that probably need to be addressed.

I actually like his patience. He will make changes, just very slowly. I like the ship being steadier, even while taking water for a bit. It's good, because if you end up in the doghouse, you definitely earned it, and there is no *****ing about it.

You also don't want young kids to think they are going to get sat for making one mistake. They have to play loose and having a very slow hand on line changes helps that.

I agree with you as well haf, be steady with the kids but make an example of veterans who fail to produce and be contributing members of this organization.

So far I am pleasantly surprised by Ruff. Changes here and there, but they don't seem to be in a panic. He's been good and patient with Nichushkin, and now it's paying off.

Early on, the team was a mess and I didn't expect them to show good signs until December at the earliest. Well, this recent 5-2 stretch has really been a nice surprise. If they continue to improve as much as they have since the beginning of the season we will have a very nice second half.
