Why was Kreider's power play time reduced against Florida?

What was happening with Stepan wasnt a big deal. They were sort of jostling on the way to the bench. Seemed like an overreaction to me considering what else has gone on this season. But hey, gotta start somewhere I guess.
It wasn't, but Stepan keeps taking cheapshots this season with no answer. He took that knee from Orpik two years ago, that elbow from Giroux last year, the elbow from Brouwer, the headshot from Allen, he's not going to keep getting this lucky and playing every game. Which is why I'm actually happy Kreider demolished Upshall. Stepan is the most important forward on the team, and players can't keep ****ing with him with no answer.

There IS a time and a place for everything though. I'd have been enraged if that hit cost us the game. But it didn't, so I'm happy.

Ever since Cally came back Kreider lost his 1st PP time. I don't really agree with it.

Callahan replaced Kreider on the first unit. Kreider is on the 2nd unit with Brassard. They barely got any time last night because the first unit played almost all of the PP minutes.

The second unit is dreadful minus Kreider and Brassard. They get nothing done. They need Nash back on that unit, and not Pouliot. Also, Stralman should be on and not Del Zotto.

#NYR No discipline expected for Chris Kreider for last night's hit on Scottie Upshall. Kreider is on the ice for team's practice today

the 2nd unit should be...

----Kreider----
Brass-----Zucc
Stralman---MDZ/Moore

when nash is back and on the 1st unit.

According to the stats Kreider hasn't been in a fight yet, not even in the A. But if he continues with dirty hits he should also be ready to drop the gloves. Problem is, a real fighter would probably destroy him.

meh. he wont be fighting real fighters. if he does face someone that can throw em tho, kreider is strong enough and big enough to protect himself from getting pummeled.

It only takes a punch to the jaw, and down he goes...maybe concussed. He needs to know how to handle himself in a fight, strength alone can't help him. If he doesn't know, then maybe he should think twice.

Holy ****, calm down with the Youtube scouting.

And people are way overreacting to the Kreider hit. He glided into Upshall. If he were going full speed, Upshall would be in the hospital right now.

whats the point of these videos? he didnt get pummeled in at least 2 of them that i watched quickly. theres a difference between losing a bout and getting destroyed.

Personally, I dont know how this got turned into a referendum on team toughness or if Kreider should learn to fight.

The biggest issue, by far, is what a dumb play it was by Kreider given the situation. Luckily the Rangers killed it off and they still won -- moving on...

If he brings Matt Dillon and Patrick Swayze to the brawl he should be just fine.

Honestly, it's a one time thing. He has been playing well and got the blood running to his head a little bit. Plus, he didn't really hit him as hard as Upshall fell. Freak incident.

True enough, but you certainly have a reason to ask.

First of all, he didnt just glide into Upshall, he pushed him hard into the boards. And Upshall didnt even see it coming, Kreider was close to a suspension there.

Then Kreider went hiding behind the bench, until he was escorted to the penalty box, less than 2 mins remaining of the game. He knew they couldnt retaliate, to me he looks more like a coward.

Point is, if he continues with these kinds of hits he will have to answer for it one day. Then he better be ready, as a non-fighter I believe he isn't.

Kreider's toughness will come along, IMO. If he continues to freight train other players, yes he should be ready to get stood up. He's very strong though and can at least not get killed. He's very non-confrontational, but I don't think that'll keep up. He'll grow into a meaner player as the season goes on, if you ask me.

I think Florida was more concerned about tying the game on their gift-wrapped powerplay than getting after Kreider -- but hey, thats just me
