It's still very early. I would take Ekblad over Reinhart right now, but things could change as we get closer to the draft. Wouldn't be disappointed with either, however. Both fill a need.

If we somehow pick outside the top 5, Ritchie would be on my radar. I don't care if he's a winger, we need some size in the top 6.

We either need a coach with a good reputation for getting results out of players or to make a move to acquire an ESTABLISHED #1 d-man so that someone can be there to insure that he develops properly.

A good example of this would be Adam Larsson. Sports analysts couldn't stop ranting and raving about this guy before he was drafted and now it's looking like Devils fans would be lucky for him to turn into a good #2 d-man.

You can't blame him. He's just had nobody to show him the way to the next level.
Holy Hell, Adam Larsson is 20 years old, and he stepped right into the league as an 18 year old. That's a foolish way to handle a young defenseman. The Devils realized their mistake and sent him to the AHL for part of this season.

It's ridiculously early in the kid Larsson's career to be suggesting what his ceiling is. We really won't have a good idea of what that is for another five or six years. It takes time to learn to play in this league; something you can attest to as an Oiler's fan.

Let's pray that Therrien screws up the Subban situation bad enough and MacTavish has the guts to move the right pieces.

good to see there are 22 (so far) smart people on this board with regards to who we should take at #1 overall if we had that pick.

Highly doubt we get the first pick. Buff, Florida, and Calgary will be worse than us for sure.

Nick Ritchie is the guy on my radar, assuming we pick between 5-10

^and I wouldn't even care if he's the most talented pick on the board or not! he'd give us great size somewhere on the top 3 lines.

Da Colle, Ritchie, Bennet, Virtanen, Draiserjcxsastl are all interesting prospects.

Nurse-Ekblad is too good to pass up though.

Tank on, Katz.

Ekblad if the composition of the team isn't changed by draft day. If we manage to get rid of Gags and/or beef up the defense, dal Colle would interest me as well.

I really hope the pick gets traded if it's outside the top 2.

A number 5th overall won't help the Oilers win anything within the time frame of Hall's $6 million a season contract.

So why aren't we hearing more about DeAngelo considering he's doing so well so far. Too small?

He's kind of like J. Schultz.

A little too passive and nonchalant in the D zone right now.

Only two players I consider are Ekblad and Draisaitl. The more I see Draisaitl the more he reminds me of Kopitar.

Hmm. Reinhart and Dal Colle seem to be fits for the Oilers too.

But that Nylander kid ...

^he a little smallish but the Oilers likely won't take Nylander's kid seeing as how Nylander sr. had a handshake agreement to play here but bounced off to Washington instead at the tail end of his career. don't think for one minute the oilers wouldn't be that petty.

Well, amazing night for Breaking Blad.

Columbus loses in OT, clear us by three points
Philly wins, pulls ahead by three points.
Florida wins, pulls ahead by two points.
Buffalo wins, pulls within 1 point of us.

1 point out of last place!...

Can't wait for the "Edmonton officially last place" thread on the main board. Should be just another night of being bashed by opposing fans.

Buffalo is playing in the crappy East so it's slightly easier for them to eke out a loser point here and there in a few games.

With the Oilers playing more games in the tougher West the rest of the way... it should be a pretty "good" race for that basement spot.

Honestly this season is over with anyway... **** it... just tank and be done with it and grab Ekblad/Reinhart. Too bad this isn't the McDavid draft.

Just imagine if we tank this year and next and get both McDavid and Ekblad.

On the bright side, if we draft 1st again, the amount of butthurt on HF will be glorious.

I honestly believe Eberle will be replaced by Marco Roy. I'd would hang onto Yak cause he brings a killer shot and grit.

I hope this guy enjoyed the first 8 or so games of the season where it wasn't yet 100% clear we were going to be drafting high again. Anything can happen up until the first massive losing streak!

Say we draft Ekblad, does he go back to junior? Or do we keep him up and send Nurse back?

May as well start the discussion.
