What the hell is in the water in Finland? I picture some sort of secret, pre-Cold War type of Goalie factory where they train goalies a-la Ivan Drago in Rocky IV.
These guys Rinne and Lehtonen are pretty good as well.

Kiprusoff, even though he retired.....Backstrom in Minnesota.

I'm thinking my next frivolous purchase is one of those Finnish hot tubs....dunk my kids in them, maybe I develop the next Jarmo Myllys.

Nah, I brought up Niemi because his efforts have been comparable to Rask this year. They're both playing out of their minds. San Jose's scoring almost a goal per game more....so one could say Rask's margin of error has been thinner.

Could easily end up being a Vezina candidate. He hasn't come down from his playoff dominance of last year.

Tuukka is the best goalie the Bruins have ever had.

He's just got to be in Tampa's heads at this point.....if he wasn't already.

By far. Wouldn't mind seeing his name in those rafters after his career is over. Am I getting ahead of myself a little bit?

Jesus christ I can't even decipher sarcasm versus sincerity after years of being on this board.

There's a few of his forefathers in B&G that have won Vezinas, Stanley Cups, and are in the Hall of Fame. Tuukka is a fine young goalie but still has aways to go.

TT's Cup run in 2011 + Cheever's mask + Brimsek's zeroness + Cecil Thompson's tininess = Rask.

Am I the only one who is selfishly hoping he gets beat out for the starting job at the Olympics so that he comes back and finishes the season with a chip on his shoulder? I'd much rather see an angry Tuukka carry us to a cup than to see a contented Tuukka run out of steam after winning a gold medal.

No, I'm just as selfish.

IMO, I think he would be just as angry either way. But yeah, I'd rather see Niemi or Lehtonen start for Finland so Tuukka has the 2 weeks off, but if he keeps playing the way he has been playing, he more than likely will get the starting job.

I would be fine if Rinne, Lehtonen or Niemi beat out Tuukka for Team Finland, since he needs all the rest he can get. But frankly, I don't think it's gonna happen. Rinne and Lehtonen have injury concerns - and hypothetically, does anybody really believe Niemi will win the starting position over Tuukka if it comes down to those two?

That would be good. He would be more rested that way to, after all he played twenty whatever playoff games and is coming off a very short summer.

I think he will start for Finland though. Finland would be dumb not to start him, he may be the best goalie in the league right now.

The guy is definitely earning his bread so far this year. It was a tall bar set with his contract, but no one can complain about his play.
I'm just more than a tad worried about him not having a decent back-up. If the B's do go on a run, I'd like him to have sat for 25 games. A guy is more likely to get injured if he's tired.

Agreed... Tuukka's not the biggest guy around. Hope he can handle the grind of a full 82 game season (60ish starts) and remain effective for the playoffs.

Huge drop off is Tuukka ever went down (I suspect they would call up and use Svenberg as the starter).

This is why i wish we still had Dobby as backup... but some circumstances are beyond control. Anton was among the best backups in the league last year.

No matter who starts team Finland is stacked when it comes to goal tending.

Tuukka is really playing well and pretty consistent-his GAA is looking very good-Tuukka doesn't give up more than 1 per game-if the Bruins are able to score three goals it is extremely likely they are going to win.

Expect Johnson to get some of the up coming games during November with the pace picking up, but Tuukka's seems to play best when he is getting lots of games.

The best goalie in the league. And very young too.

Hopefully, Subban value increase a lot in the next few years so we can trade him for a top young F or D. Unless we keep him and trade Rask for an established super star?

Either way, it will be a win for the team.

I think that's one of the things that Julien has to really think about. You don't want to burn Tuukka out by having him play 24/7, but he seems to thrive when he plays a lot. He can be sort of shaky after longer breaks and layoffs.

I have Rask and Lehtonen in my ESPN pool this year against a bunch of buddies of mine.
Needless to say I am doing very well with these 2.

Rask is a beast and hopefully he can be around for quite some time.

Tuukka has been beast for awhile now and I'm not afraid to say top 3 goalie league. I personally think Quick n Tuukka mirror each other I know others may say ones better then the other but when I stay up for late games and catch the Kings playing someone. I swear if you put Tuukka's equipment on Quick they'd be twins ...so many similarities in rebound control, catching, butterfly kick outs, splits, blocker punches to the corner, even during scrambles close to net they both get on there belly and play scorpion both hands pushing forward and legs ready to kick up in air anyway just my thoughts.

Gotta love the Tuukka Show unreal
