Sorry man. I was worried about that but didn't want to make a new thread.

Mods - Please alter title, if you are still around of course.

Whoever the tool was who did that please don't do it again. I read Hamonic Concussion and thought there goes the season. Then refreshed on phone to read the truth. Wheeeew. What a relief.

STill doesn't discount the fact that he's playing like garbage. I like Hamonic, but I also no when a guy is playing poorly. I hope he picks it up...

I'm very happy that Travis is not concussed and remains a healthy body to put out there. A replacement would only make matters worse than they are already for this defense corps.

Travis just passed his 200th NHL game, and like Leap, I concur that he has not played nearly as well as we hoped for. Denis Potvin is famous for saying that a young defensemen does not really understand how to play the position fully until they have played 300 games. I hope we do not have to wait another 100 for Hammer as he has regressed from his first two seasons, or at best, has not progressed. Some of his poor play can be attributed to being paired with and having to cover up for AMac (who has becoome truly horrible), but Travis also creates problems for the pairing with poor reads, poor positioning, not playing as physical as he can and should, and bringing little offensive flair. At the least he could stop taking such a huge telegraphed wind up on shots and get some through and on net.
Again, glad he is healthy and will play, not happy with how he has been playing.

^You're seeing a player whose playing too many minutes and being overused in various situations. When that happens it can often 'look' like a player is regressing. Hammer should be playing 2nd-pairing duties.

Agreed.

I think the same goes for MacDonald, who is solid, but is being overused. That will happen when the Isles don't have a single legit top-pairing defenseman. They have to overuse what they do have and as a result, struggle carrying the puck out of the zone or making a clean first pass.

We also struggle entering the opposition's zone. These two problems are huge and a big reason why the Islanders lose close games or fall apart, because turnovers result due to these two problems and ultimately lead to scoring chances in favor of the opponents.

Glad Hamonic is ok,

Hamonic while grossly overrated on this board is desperately needed in the lineup. Hamonic is a solid 2nd pair citizen being asked like the other defensemen to play in a role way above his head. We need more defense and we needed it 4 seasons ago. Maybe by 2017 when the "kids" are finally ready we can have a respectable defense.
