We can't clear the puck after gaining possession in our zone ... Mazanec is giving up rebounds that we've been lucky have been either missed by Islanders down low or pushed wide ... the all too typical lapse that leaves a scorer open in a dangerous position ... too many freaking penalties.

Now if only the players could capitalize on any of the quality chances they have generated.
You're right man, I mean the Islanders didn't have any defensive lapses in that period did they? I mean obviously they didn't we didn't score......

Read the entire post. ... twice if necessary ... and you might notice where I said we generated chances yet didn't capitalize.

We look like a lost team without a rock playing in goal, bottom line. We have no identity without a goaltender that can turn the tide of a game and mask our mistakes.

I believe his point was their goalie made saves during their defensive lapses

My point is, mistakes always happen in hockey, there's always a breakdown, the goalie should bail you out, ours have not been.

Poulin didn't need to make many hard saves. The best chance we had resulted in Cullen's shot deflecting safely off a shaft then fluttering down into the catching glove. Beck has the puck behind the net and tries to pass it through the pile of bodies on the side Poulin is laying in rather than go to the other side where Hendricks is crashing and is wide open. Nystrom comes in with numbers and blasts glove side for the save ... a shot that probably wasn't getting beamed past Poulin and had no chance of generating a rebound opportunity if on net and not gloved.

Name one goalie who routinely stops Tavares on that opportunity. ONE

I wasn't talking about any goal in particular just overall.

My expectations entering the season were low, so this isn't really affecting me the way it is the rest of you. However, most of you need to calm down and accept it. We're not amazing right now. I've seen us turn it around before though, so I'm not giving up on the team yet. I also won't buy into the fact that we're going to be a 1st place team anytime within the next couple years. We are officially rebuilding, so cool your jets and look for something positive like the maturing of our Young Talent.
