Very happy to Versteeg back in Chicago. He's been his best when with them. He's probably thrilled

Little surprised by this trade.

Florida keeps salary and gets almost nothing back.

Could be great for Hawks if he regain form, which he should considering the talent he'll play with.

I hope the Panthers can find another 6'6'' 220lbs forward and then put him on a line with Bjugstad and Hayes.

Little risk at such a low cap hit.

Was hoping that the Jets would have looked into acquiring him. Didn't seem like it costed a whole lot either.

that's gross. the rich get richer in Chicago. The kid now has a huge reason to turn things around and Chicago gets a 50% discount... #WOW

Great, can't wait to see more turnovers at the blueline leading to odd man breaks again.

Versteeg was probably the least missed piece from 2010 but I can see him turning things around a bit coming back to Chicago. I don't think Hayes really got a fair shake here, I think he has more potential than what we saw of him. Olsen...bleh, whatever.

One of my favorite players. Great deal for both sides, IMO.

Surprised for sure.

Deal looked fine, until I saw the 50% retain, that's crazy. Hawks win this one.

Hayes wasn't going to see the Hawks anytime soon, and if he did, it'd be some spot minutes on the 4th line. Olsen is a solid defensive d-man prospect, but won't be cracking the Hawks anytime soon. Both will be NHL contributors, just no room for them on the Hawks.

A great deal for both teams.

Versteeg was making many of our mistakes. I would have taken a bag of pucks for him. I also don't think Tallon is done.

For 50% it's not a bad deal but I think Florida wins if bergs reef can't gain his form.

7 point in 18 games with Florida = Not terrible. Putting up points can't be easy in Florida, you don't have much surrounding talent. Not to mention, he put up solid numbers in Chicago and they're virtually the same team as they used to be.

Kind of cool he is going back, didn't he have a good season last year? Maybe he can rebound.

Versteeg's gonna be a 40ish point player at worst for Chicago, bargain deal imo. Olsen if he ever develops is gonna take a while and Hayes is a solid player but not ever a top 6.

Teams like Nashville should be making these trades tbh.

Well, that was unexpected. Its about time the Hawks started putting their glut of prospects and picks to good use. Saad-Shaw-Versteeg is a pretty sweet third line.

Considering we had Versteeg playing 4th line minutes and benched him a few periods, I'm glad he's gone.

Blackhawks fans who have not watched Kris Versteeg play this season... you have been warned. We got a lot considering how putrid he has played.
