There is a video of his hattrick from September on youtube:

Also some video can be found on khl.ru site (it's actually really hard to navigate there, even for me ):

http://video.khl.ru/events/98417?locale=en

I believe something else can be found, but it requires some hard googling.

that last one gets waved off in the NHL for goalie interference. nothing like taking a shot and running the keeper so he can't make the save.

Thought the same when I watched those highlights a few days ago. Somehow the goalie didnt sell it. I will give him that.

I also notice there's a ton of room to stickhandle, something that wont be possible in the NHL.

Michael Mersch

Quick background on me. I'm a huge Kings fan that's in grad school at Miami University (Ohio). The games are free for students, so I go as often as I can, which is pretty much every game.

This weekend, Miami plays Wisconsin. 2011 4th round pick Michael Mersch plays for the Badgers, so I wanted to give you guys an update on what I saw.

Mersch has good size for college, he's listed at 6'1" and that looked about right. It seems like a lot of college guys tend to be smaller. He does his best to use his size to protect the puck, but had limited success tonight. He plays a simple, go to the net type of game on offense. Used on the PK and PP.

I think his skating is holding him back a bit. Speed is adequate, but he has an slow, ugly stride and tripods a bit in when coasting toward the net. Not a "my stick is open" tripod, but an "I'm using my stick as support" tripod. Miami is built as a small, speedy team and he looked like he wasn't always able to keep up. His stickwork looked like it could use some improvement as well, a couple of times Miami players got under his stick and forced a turnover.

TBH, I wasn't really impressed. I'll keep an eye on him tomorrow as well, and post a update, good or bad.

Thank you, igotnothing!

In terms of Kings prospects tonight, here are some numbers:
Auger had one assist, and Leslie was held scoreless in Guelph's 9-4 win.
Kubalik was a -1 with 2 PIM in Sudbury's 3-1 loss.
Kurtis MacDermid was also a -1 with 2 PIM in Owen Sound's 2-1 loss.
Zykov was a -2 in Baie-Comeau's 5-4 OT loss.
Alex Roach was a +1 with 2 PIM in Calgary's 3-2 SO win.
Joel Lowry had an assist in Cornell's 3-2 loss.
Michael Mersch was held off the scoreboard as Wisconsin was blanked 2-0.
Fasching was held off the scoreboard for the first time this season in Minnesota's 4-1 win.
Paul Ladue had an assist in North Dakota's 4-2 win.

Finally, big night for St. Cloud State, which blanked Alabama-Huntsville 10-0. Nic Dowd had 2 goals. Kevin Gravel had an assist. Jonny Brodzinski had 2 goals and 1 assist.

olympic sized rinks, bigger lanes to operate in. critically important to play the correct angles on D or you are ****. also appears to me they aren't quite as keen on playing a tight defense like they do in the NHL

Exactly.

As European myself, I'm aware of the surface.

My update on Michael Mersch of Wisconsin. Badgers won 3-2, Mersch had the game-tying 2nd goal for Wisc.

I'm still not sold on his hands or feet, but Mersch had a better showing tonight. His positioning was better and seemed more confident skating. His goal was just working to get to the right area and putting in a rebound from a broken play. However, he made few bad passes and still lost the puck by letting sticks under his. The coach trusts him, he was on the ice in the last minute protecting a one goal lead.

He'll never be a playmaker or a sniper, but physicality and tenacity are his strong points. He was involved in some light after the whistle stuff. The closest comparison on the current Kings team would be Da-wight King. At this point I'm not sure how far he'll make it. He might do well on a team with structure like the Kings.

So because his team is losing he can't look good? This has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever read on here.

And now he had a sick assist.

I wasn't suggesting he doesn't look good because his team is losing. It just seemed like four or five shifts wasn't a very large sample size. I guess I am wrong... I hope he puts up great stats regardless of what his team does.

I guess that'd be why he qualified it with the words 'so far.'

Technically one game is to small of a sample size as well, so really we shouldn't be posting about players until they've exceeded that small sample size. Is ten games good enough?

Good to hear because he was hurt at the beginning of the year.
Also 2 assists for Leslie and a +2 in that game.

Worry about getting the character first, then work hard yourself to help the kid get the potential manifested into reality.

Could someone remind me on Prokhorkins contract situation? Is he free at the end of this season or the next?

Contract until next season. With both Radulov and Morozov on the team, I hope it wont be any longer..

Both left the NHL for the Russian league.

That's one problem with his level of success is someone in Russia is going to offer him an elephant size **** load of money to stay. Be interesting how much he wants to come to NA if he's a household name in Russia.
