planning on going to station sport or pj pub to watch this...for those who watched a gsp fight from either place, how early do you recommend that I get there?

I love how people say that he's not hungry or that he's boring to watch.

it's ****ing UFC. The guy has won 11 fights in row, he's a freaking machine.

I'm not even scared he's gonna beat up Hendricks.

Hendricks is just hype hype hype.

I'm just really hoping GSP doesn't make the fight boring. You have to love the guy because he's from here, but **** he's boring. I hope Hendricks knocks him out.

So GSP should be suposed to stand up against Hendricks because it's not boring?

This ain't about who takes the most punch to the mouth ..

GSP is a ground fighter, always have. He's dominant on the mat, why would he need to stay up and put on a show?

He has nothing to prove. People that are flashy never last long, GSP lasted long because he is cautious and not going for the show.

No, but it would be nice if he could actually ****ing finish somebody, instead of doing jabs and takedowns for 25 minutes.

What makes Hendricks dangerous is his ability to quickly close distance and "get inside" to land that left hook. See his KOs of Fitch and Kampmann

GSP has faced powerful strikers before but no one who can pull that kind of stuff. Guys like Koscheck , BJ , Alves , Condit....all guys with heavy hands but none has that snap rush-blitz ability + power combo that Hendricks possess.

That said i think Hendricks only advantages are that closing distance ability and power. GSP is better everywhere else (technical striking , cardio , versatibility , kicks , reach , BJJ , experience , gameplanning etc) and i do believe that if the fight hits the ground that he's gonna otuwrestle Big Riggs. If GSP can stay on the outside and avoid those Hendricks blitz then he's gonna win quite easily imho. If Hendricks does catch GSP with one of those bombs however...then all bets are off.

All in all i favor GSP but i do think Hendricks is his most dangerous opponent in a while.

Well don't watch the fight then.

GSP isnt boring at all. His technique is impressive, and if you watch the fight without thinking about ''OMG KNOCKOUTS, BLOOD EVERYWERE'' you'll see that GSP is awesome and really not boring.

every move is calculated, it's really impressive.

IMO if Hendricks close the gap GSP will take him to the ground

Yeah, it's boring, but very effective. You have to go with what works.

Funny enough, I also happen to follow a little bit of chess and there's a world championship match going on right now. Magnus Carlsen (challenger, 22 yo) vs. the old champ, Vishy Anand (around 43 yo).

Carlsen is really the chess equivalent of GSP. He grinds down his opponents in lenghty endgames, not taking any risks, not going for the quick KO, but capitalizing on small mistakes, etc.

I actually enjoy watching these guys (GSP and Carlsen), trying to achieve maximal result with minimal risk and a very methodical approach.

why would he risk losing the fight to please you? he's unbeatable by doing what he does. This is pretty much like people complaining about Lemaire's trap, it just worked.

It's impressive, but his fights are definitely not exciting. It's fun to watch how technical he is, and how he rarely makes mistakes, but his fights are really boring.

I love watching gsp fights it's not boring at all, he is an mma artist not a bar brawler, I love watching the guys he fights get fustrated and give up late in the fight cause they realize his is just so much smarter then they are, he's not just going to stand there and let you punch him

Well that's an option no doubt. Hendricks has a pretty decent TDD though so it should be interesting to see if he can stuff GSP takedowns.

The positive to this is that trying to stuff GSP may makes him gass earlier. I sincerely believe that Hendricks does not had the gass tank to last 5 rounds. If he wins it's gonna be the first 2 rounds imho

And in 2006 the NHL did everything it could to eliminate Lemaire's trap from the game, because it wasn't exciting for the fans. And like the NHL, the UFC is nothing without it's fans.

every GSP fight is sold out, I don't think they are in any financial trouble. You're just unhappy because of the lack of blood, don't watch the fight

Did no one see GSP's fight against Condit? If you didn't find that entertaining stop watching fighting.
