Nominate an HFer that could outcoach MT.

Lotta smart hockey people on here. Who would you nominate from these boards?

Name a few honorable mentions as assistants.

How much time would you give them before becoming engulfed in the magical goggles of rosy habsland brass and losing all focus in all aspects of the game and with no grasp on reality?

Go!

*Thread is half serious and half taking jabs at the powers that be.

It's important to have these threads as a reminder of the general knowledge level.

As long as they give me an armchair to direct operations, I nominate myself.

Nobody. It's too easy to think anyone could replace an actual NHl coach.

As much as I doubt MT is a good fit here ( I have some doubts since the begenning ) coaching is a very hard job. You don't have any idea how much pressure it is. Especially in Montreal ...

Now if the question was : Is some posters ( with some years of pro coaching experience ) could outcoach MT ? Probably. MT is not a brilliant tactician IMHO. I'm sure some people would be better ( with experience, of course)

I understand what he's trying to do with DD ( a confident DD would benefit the Habs, of course ). The thing is, even Briere is a better fit in his spot. The thing that is unnaceptable is that he's playing DD the way I play my Pacioretty-Galchenyuk-Gallagher line in NHl 2014. I want them to put points so much I overuse them at tue expense of players like Eller and Plekanec and I ( to a certain extent ) put the team second to my "agenda". I think his problem is an emotionnal one and that he doesn't have the intellect to overcome it.

Apparently, by reading some comments on these forum... basically anyone and everyone can coach better than him.

There are so many things that go on behind the scenes that we are unaware of. Even the all mighty 24CH doesn't come close to showing the interisting stuff that can give us an idea to what is actually taken into consideration for all the hockey decisions within the organization. There ARE a lot of very smart and savvy hockey people here, no doubt. But if you knew hockey as well as you thought you did, maybe your opinions would be better served and used withins the walls of a conference room at the Bell, instead of being posted on a hockey forum

After a win we don't need a coach, after a loss, every poster here. To be fair to any coach, you need a certain amount of talent to achieve anything, we need to stay the course and finish 10th or trade Plekanec and Gorges to Edmonton for one of their young guns and rebuild it and play the kids.

For 2 Assistant Coaches...

Moen in Glory: Would keep the players loose before games with funny pictures posted above the lineups

CoolAsPRICE: Could get the PP going by showing endless repeats of Kovalev vids or maybe get the players to strike until Molson signed him to a contract

And for Head Coach...

Habs: If they won the cup it would be the snarkiest "I told you so" ever recorded in history, but if they didn't find success with the new coaching change I think a lot of people would enjoy running him out of town

Dont want to nitpick here but he question should have been:
"Nominate an HFer that could outcoach MT while doing
the Michael Jackson Moonwalk behind the bench during a game"

This is pretty much it but such comments quickly go unnoticed or disregarded.

No one ever knows the real agendas, they are kept secret. For instance, obviously a guy like Brière will do as well or better than Desharnais at center any day of the week, therefore he should get at least as much ice time there if not more regularly. Thing is...maybe MT has been given the directive to play Desharnais as much as possible in order to showcase him as required by other teams. Things like that happen all the time.

It can make the coach look bad but under the radar negociations explain the choices of the coach some times.

not a single soul

even old posters of yore who used to be completely grounded, have turned into a reactionary mess.
