I take this in a heartbeat. Brunner has been REALLY bad since the 2nd week of the season.

Lateral deal, decent change of scenery for both teams. Probably favours SJ a bit more. How do the contracts work out?

Sure, I'd do it, if anything just because of contracts.

Pretty bad for New Jersey. Brunner hasn't been too impressive so far, but Havlat's contract is terrible. Not to mention he's injury prone.

San Jose would win big for just dumping that contract.

Brunner isn't anything special but could work well with all the skill in SJ. NJ gains nothing from this deal thou. SJ would have to toss in a draft pick and Brunner simply isn't worth that. I would guess they would dump Havlat and a pick for a prospect so they can clear a roster spot in the process.

I would be ok including a draft pick OR eating part of Havlat's salary.

I'll drive him to NJ myself. I doubt Brunner has been as bad as Havlat the past 2 weeks.

Brunner isn't the type to take the helm on any team, if he has superstar offense surrounding him, he's a 40+ pt player easy. This deal would benefit San Jose greatly! Adds much needed depth that won't remain injured for half the season.

I'd love to see Elias and Havlat together at some point (albeit, that sounded much better five years ago), just not at a 5 mil cap hit--6 mil in real cash hinders it that much more.

We already have the IR beast in Clowe, no need to add any competition in that area.

Havlat/Kennedy
Irwin
for
Brunner/Jagr
Salvador

Of course NJ probably would want to keep Jagr to roll the superstar Czech line 2004. Sharks want Jagr so he can make Hertl all awesome and stuff.

I think Brunner would be useless for the Sharks... I think Havlat can still come around and he has a unique skill set. No.

New Jersey wouldn't do Merrill alone for that package let alone Merrill and Brunner.

Both/Either SJ defensemen wouldn't fit anywhere in New Jersey and your low 1st is not enough for Merrill.

Alright, swing and a miss on my part.

Question, is Merrill completely off the table? If not, what do you guys need long term to consider dealing him?

Off the table is too absolute a term, but it would be difficult to receive an offer worthy of moving him
