We didn't lose last season due to goaltending. We lost due to lack of scoring. There is a much better chance we make a move for a forward not a Goalie.

Wow is this ever snowballing. Halak had a couple of rough games. Look at the GDTs at the start of the year, everyone was praising him. Fortunately for St. Louis, they have a guy capable or stepping in right now in Elliott. He looked really good tonight.

There is no way Jaskin, Rattie, Schwartz, Tarasenko, Allen, or multiple firsts will go for Miller. Miller is a UFA and has no connection with St. Louis so there is no guarantee he will stay. Add to it, St. Louis traded away their first last year, and going three straight years without a first is never a good thing, I don't care if you win the Cup every year.

This team flew into Washington last night at 3 am. Probably checked into the hotel and in bed by about 4-4:30 and then had to play a little over 12 hours later. They had no time for a proper meal, not a good nights sleep and had finished the game at about 11:30 pm the night before. Of course the team was not only physically tired, but probably emotionally as well. They had no time to regroup.

Calm down, St. Louis is still in a great position and it's only November. If by Olympic break the Blues are on the outside looking in or both goalies are struggling pretty bad, then maybe look for a goalie, but this is so over the top it's beyond ridiculous.

Still 31 games played of having a sub .900 sv%. He was also obviously healthy enough for Hitch to trust him playing in 16 games while "injured".

Or we can, you know, not give up Jaskin like we originally intended. Why is Moulson being added in, we never asked for him and he won't fit under the salary cap.

Where is Moulson going to play on St. Louis? Do you not realize how much depth St. Louis has on the wings?

We don't have the cap space for that.

You got to be kidding, you don't see yet another Halak trend brewing here. I guess I'm just not happy with a average goalie being our #1, he's not the guy that gets the job done, sorry if you're a fan of his, but he's just not.

No doubt they around to some teams around the league, but the Blues aren't one of them. The salary cap plays a HUGE part in that.

There has been discussion of acquiring Miller far longer than losing a game tonight. It's been going on since the rumors of Miller leaving Buffalo last year and then really picked up when there were rumors of us actually having a deal set up to acquire him before Halak injured himself. This is far from reactionary but rather coming to a realization that our goaltenders aren't bad but they aren't anything special and is something this club has lacked since the CuJo days.

Also scoring so far has no been a problem, yes we were scoring a lot last year but were sacrificing our defense for more offense. This year we are playing great on both ends of the ice but have been lacking good goaltending. As much as people don't want to give up assets, we have plenty of assets without hurting our future. It's not like we are going to have guys retiring or demanding large contracts we can't fit anytime soon. Regardless if you think Miller isn't that big of an upgrade (which I personally think he is) he is still an upgrade and I would rather lose a few assets for the future in order to get to the ultimate goal which is the Cup.

I mean look how much depth we have now and we have multiple prospects that look great but how are they going to fit in and when? There is a draft, EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR. we have prospects like Jaskin, Rattie, Carrier, Schmaltz, Vannelli, Hakanpaa, Edmundson, Allen, Binnington in our pipeline and compare that to other cup contending teams prospect pools. We have time to replenish our prospect pool while giving some up.

I think

Halak, 1st 14, 2nd 14 and Carrier is a pretty fair deal. Buffalo would check to see if anyone offers more but I think in the end they would accept that.

Any interest in Steve Ott for St. Louis?

Steve Ott + Ryan Miller (50% salary)

For:

Halak + Ty Rattie + 2nd rounder

Or is Rattie a complete no go?

Zero interest in Ott. No interest in moving Rattie as well.

The point still stands...Jaskin isn't moving. We need him moving forward because this team needs young talent that is cheap. And there's a little thing called the salary cap too.

Halak didn't play the night before, and he is the reason we lost the game. The rest of the team that did play the night before dominated for the most part, and played good enough to take this game into OT tied 1-1. The traveling all night excuse would work if it was the rest of the team that lost us the game, but it wasn't. It was the guy that had the night before off, and should have been plenty rested up. The rest of the team while tired played their ***** off including Elliot. The traveling excuse doesn't work in this scenario, they aren't the ones that **** the bed again.

"A couple of rough games" okay

Fair enough. I think Buffalo would do Halak, 1st, 2nd for Ryan Miller. The added prospect seems like too much.

You are not getting a 1st and a top prospect, it just isn't going to happen.
