Pens and Oilers

Malkin for Hall, Gagner, Klefbom and our first.
Or how about RNH and Yakupov for Malkin?

Oilers obviously need a player that doesn't seem to be available anywhere so I'm swinging for the fences.......

unfortunately Oilers are in no position to make that trade for malkin...they need to acquire key pieces, not lose half of them for one superstar

Malkin just signed an 8 year extension at a reasonable price with a full NMC. He won't be moved.

But, just for laughs, it would take Hall, Gagner, Petry, 1-2 top prospects and a 1st just to get the ball rolling

Two roster players for one player of need as well as a better player. I think they have to make that kind of trade.

I don't have a problem with this at all.

That is a massive overpayment for Malkin. For one Malkin has greatly struggled this year. Secondly he is older and more expensive that Hall with similar talent levels. Throw in all the rest you are suggesting and it just doesn't add up.

I'm not an Oliers or Pens fan, but this deal just doesn't make sense from the Oilers POV.

Agreed. It's actually a stupid trade for them to do. You deplete a roster for 1 guy then still suck. SMH. Malkin is a good player but he's shown that he can be silenced. He also can be rattled off of his game

I originally had RNH instead of Gagner, then I realized that asking for that would be way too much.

Malkin for:

RNH
Yakupov
Nurse
1st 2014
1st 2015.

Yup, that is what it would cost.

Gutting the team for one player is not what Edmonton needs and certainly not at some of these laughable prices suggested by outside fans.

Yes, because what Edmonton is doing now is working perfectly

Pretty much, which would be a dumb move for Edmonton and I'm still not sure the Pens would do it.

These threads for Malkin (or Crosby, Ovechkin, Stamkos, etc) always end the same way. They're not for sale, so a GM would have to offer overpayment to the degree that it would completely destroy the team trying to trade for him.

Still wouldn't do it. Doesn't help the Pens win now.

Staight up one for one trades. Malkin for Weber? Would certainly change the dynamic for both teams.

I don't think a deal with Pittsburgh is impossible, but I do think a deal for Malkin is impossible.

Plus, we've worked for years to get a few players who actually can play at the NHL level, gutting our system for one guy wouldn't be the smartest move.

The Pens are pretty set on D despite not having any single player as good as Weber. Trading Malkin away for Weber makes the Pens worse.

This would be close.. Out of all the teams I would say EDM has the best lineup of trade bait, both prospects and regulars to get a deal like this done.

RNH would be a must, if only to replace Malkin as the #2C. I'd also want one of Hall or Eberle. That would be the starting point. Or if it's Yak, you're still adding.

Nope. Malkin's a non-starter.

agreed.

Pens can't afford to move an impact, difference maker like Malkin unless they get the equivalent back. And EDM doesn't have that.

The Oilers need 1-2 solid dmen and 1-2 solid forwards in their prime, not spectacular, just smart, hard-working, balanced forwards. They have star-power and elite skill, just need to surround them with more.

I'd like to see Taylor Hall and Sid play together on the same line. Would have to watch in slow motion.
