Not sure I agree, but that was the idea behind proposal and see what other though?
If Galchenyuk gets traded I would hope Malkin is coming the other way, otherwise I'd pass. My point was teams are very loathe to trade a player taken 3rd overall and the GM's first pick.

I wouldn't trade Galchenyuk for Kane, that to me signifies that Galchenyuk is a miss. I'd trade Pacioretty for Kane because I think he's a better player then Patches and he fits into the type of team that Therrien and MB are trying to build. Not so much the character part but more the forecheck game.

Bourque won't get you Schiefele, that much I'm sure of.

Maybe Burmistrov would be someone they would move for Leblanc and a + or if they want Gorges and a bit more, I'd make that trade.

Wow Chris, XXXX must be one heck of a player! Playing 5 positions on two lines and one pair of defense.

Okay let's pretend we can convince Nill that it would be an awesome idea to trade them Desharnais and Pacioretty so they could reunite that Cole-DD-Pac line....Who do you want in return?

It will have to be a package involving Dillon and Chiasson....

I can see us signing Vanek to a $7.5mil per season for 6 year deal. With Gionta likely gone. We will be looking for a RW right shooter. If you notice the Habs lines before last season, we had alot left shooters. Cole got traded for Ryder, then we sign Briere. I predict if Gionta leaves, then we will be looking for a right shooter. Also if Diaz leaves, we will also be looking for a righty so no Orpik. Yes to Dan Girardi.

Galchenyuk-Eller-Gallagher
Bournival-Plekanec-Vanek
Pacioretty-Desharnais-Briere
Prust-White-Moen

Markov-Subban
Gorges-Girardi
Emelin-Tinordi

I think if Markov resigns, Gorges will be moved. Also we need to make room for Tinordi and Beaulieu. Ideally we want this:

Tinordi-Subban
Emelin-Girardi
Beaulieu-Peteryn

Something like that.

Montreal has been scouting the Avalanche hard lately. Speculation is we are interested in Stastney.

DENVER POST’s Adrian Dater reported via Sulia the Montreal Canadiens have heavily scouted the Colorado Avalanche even though they’ll only face each other one more time this season. He wonders if they’re scouting the Avs for a trade, speculating their targets could be Paul Stastny or John Mitchell.

Also this from the Fourthperiod.com

At least it goves some hope that Bergy is looking around for a trade as this current team just isn't scoring any goals.

So Bergevin asked about Kane? PAY THE ****ING PRICE, MB! Stop saying the price is too high. The price will always be too high. You need balls, ffs.

Not sure how credible TFP is.. they claimed Bergevin has been inquiring about Kane since last season. They also seem to believe that Diaz is an RFA lol

I'd be all over a Kane deal though, as long as it's fair value.

I'll be happy when Pacioretty starts scoring again so that the ridiculous offers in the Pacioretty threads on the main trade board here can disappear again.

You would trade Subban/Galchenyuk for Kane?

Players like Richards, Carter, Kovalchuk and Neal didn't even go for nearly as much as that. I doubt Kane yields that type of return.

Depends on what teams are interested, I guess. Some of those other players came with some pretty big contracts, or conversely impending free agency attached. Neal wasn't quite so established yet, but we thought it was a terrible trade even so.

Kane at a modest $5.25M and term, I could see him getting interest. Winnipeg's D with a couple big guys out may look bad atm, but they are nominally pretty much set there, and so what else do they need? A goalie? Some more big fast scoring forwards like Kane? Hm.

Well, offer them Fucale, and a few other of our best futures assets, I guess. But if some other team with a more blue-chip further-along goalie showed up? Or some other bigger-name prospect in general? I don't feel like we're in good shape with who, Beaulieu to offer?

They'll fire Noel and see how Kane plays under the new coach first, anyway.

Kane has more value than all of them except Kovalchuk who was an UFA. Neal isn't a premier player, he'd still be a 20-30 guy if he were in Dallas. Even now he looks like that in Pittsburgh after his singular ridiculous season with Malkin. Carter went for a top 10 pick, a great young former top 10 pick and a third rounder. He then went for a top pairing defenseman and a 1st. Richards went for a former top 5 pick, a young power forward and a 2nd.

Now consider Kane has more value than either of those guys and is on an even more cap friendly contract than they were. On top of this he's the most coveted type of player in the league that 30 teams want to have and hasn't even entered his prime.

I want Kane as much as the next guy but if you hear "the price is too high", that doesn't mean Beaulieu and a 1st is what they are asking for.

Start with? Is Kane really that much better that Pacioretty? So the trade would be 2 former 1st round picks plus a future 1st round pick for Kane.

Yes, but not that much better. Plus, his antics seems to suggest he's not the brightest candle on the cake and he's had a few concussions where he's missed a week or two of hockey.

If we had more assets that we could afford to trade away I might be more willing to overpay but I wouldn't be surprised if Pacioretty was the best player they get offered even if our package wasn't the best. I'd be okay with Beaulieu and a 1st as long as we make the playoffs.

Subban, Galchenyuk = price indeed too high.

If you guys are afraid to give Pacioretty, Beaulieu and 1rd pick for Kane, you guys will have to get used to minor move!

Kane is a better fit for us, Beaulieu has a lot of question marks and the first round pick is not always a homerun.
