So would most Pens fans. We have a surplus of D prospects. Nothing really to write home about on the forwards side

The Chicago Blackhawks currently have no room whatsoever under the salary cap for the 2013-14 NHL Season. To absorb Budaj's cap hit of $1.4 million, the Chicago Blackhawks have to unload a contract of equal to or greater value.

Not necessarily. Khabibulin is on the LTIR (according to your link) so the Hawks can "over-spend" his salary's worth while he's off, plus you can deduct the salary of Raanta, who is currently taking his spot.

Having said that, I'd rather keep Budaj who is a perfect backup for Price, and offer Tokarski.

Lol, I find it hilarious how many people are crapping all over Holland these last few days, but apparently Morin is a complete stud.

Similar size, similar NHL stats, same draft year.

AHL stats:
Morin
168gp 62g 59a 121p (.72ppg)
Holland
129gp 50g 64a 114p (.88ppg, same/slightly better goals per game)

Holland has noticeably better AHL stats, plays a far more valuable position, and is a waaaaaay better skater. No one thinks it's at all off that Morin should get the same as Bolland in a trade (people are actually offering more!??!), and similar/slightly more than Holland? Moreover, Holland sucks balls, but Morin's just the bees knees. HFboards, never change.

Maybe Talbot backup goalie and a pick? maybe?
nope. with Biron retired, Talbot is the backup right now. Rangers dont have much depth after Lundqvist and Talbot. not a lot of AHL quality goalies, heck most of their prospects at goal is ECHL level at best..

If Philly has a bad next 10 games, you van have Emery back for Morin +Bulin wall.

Emery makes $50,000 less that Bulin.

I wouldn't. Isn't Morin waiver-eligible next season? Dumoulin isn't until '15-'16.

We'd essentially be trading for a guy who'd either make the team directly out of camp or hit waivers. I'd want him to have more of an audition this season.

Besides, we're looking for an option on the wing now. We may well have filled it by the deadline.

It seems so counter productive to trade for a guy who was just here last year and left on his own agenda, let alone give up a top prospect for him...

..But you might be onto something there. More familiarity with the Hawks than any other backup options out there, and he played great behind our defense the past two years.

No point in giving up Morin for a back-up goalie. If Crawford goes down, the Hawks are done no matter who our back-up goalie is. (realistically)

No thanks! The Chicago Blackhawks are flush with center prospects and Ryan White does nothing for the Chicago Blackhawks.

I want a defensive prospect (or a spot on the roster) for Morin. Nothing else really.

Fellow Hawks fans correct me if I'm wrong, but Morin's major obstacle to sticking with the Hawks is his speed/skating correct? He's got a real nice shot but I just don't know that he can keep pace with the rest of the team. Do you see that changing over time?

That's would be the reason to move him in my mind- aside from that I think he's a good
Fit.

No. His skating has notably improved since he turned Pro, and it's no longer something that will keep him from being a quality NHL regular.

Morin's biggest problem has been consistency in the NHL.

Morin's biggest problem is the coach of the Chicago Blackhawks who would rather play Sheldon Brookbank at right wing than Jeremy Morin.

I think that it is speed, skating, and he still appears lost. Last player that just was not getting Chicago's system was Hayes who is now a Panther

You might want to learn about the salary cap the NHL has before you make posts like this.

Hayes fell down without assistance a lot too. Right now it looks to me like Q just doesn't want too much inexperience on the team.
