I love how since giroux blew up, every single prospect under 5'11" and that has a good amount of vision and talent = Claude Giroux lite...

Don't forget... they have to be French Canadian and have played in the QMJHL too

With reway and hudon MBs plan to get bigger may have a setback in a couple years

Getting bigger doesn't mean the entire roster is bigger than 6'2.

Also if Reway does pan out, he is at least a couple years away. And I don't understand how you can be worried about their size if they pan out. I don't care about their size, if they play in the NHL after being a late round pick is a great drafting success

Boston has 2 players under 6 and Toronto has 1. MB also might resign gionta and Diaz too knowing him. Not that size is as important as our lack of scoring ability anyway.

Trust me, I hate making the lazy small Francophone = Giroux comparison.

The problem is that's whose game he reminds me of. He's a feisty playmaker with a smart, aggressive defensive game, and he's even virtually the same size.

Of course there's differences, his hands aren't Giroux good, he's more fragile, but he really seems to approach the game similarly.

Even if Gionta is resigned, he will still be long gone before Reway is NHL ready, if he ever is. Desharnais will likely be gone by then too.

Hudon is at least a year away, the other "smurfs" like Collberg and Lehkonen even more so.

Boston has 3 really small players in Marchand, Krug and Smith (who is 6 foot but 165 pounds!!)

Chicago has Shaw, Kane, Versteeg, Kruger

As long as the smaller guys bring something to the table and the bigger guys can insulate them, it doesn't matter. Quit being so insecure

Hudon makes me think more about Alfredsson-lite than Giroux-lite. Impressed by Barbashev.

Don't think he has the speed of young Alfie, and definitely doesn't have the shot, but I see where you are coming from.

Shaw is 5'11 and tough as hell.

Kane is a star. Versteeg brings a sniper mentality and a guy who can be physical.

Kruger is good depth and brings a solid pk player.

Desharnais brings jack ****.

Gionta brings the odd point, but other than that brings jack ****. Leadership ?

Bouillon brings physicality, but he's useless most of the games anyways.

Im at the game... Hudon and Fucale are sick. Drouin too(obviously).. Gregoire is playing really well for a 6th round pick.

Kruger is 'good depth and a solid pk player' but gionta brings jack ****? Being able to play against top lines every game doesn't count for anything anymore, I guess. At least not on this forum.

How does he play against them ? No one counters them anymore. They focus more on the EGG line. Then usually Pacioretty's line, or Gionta's line.

I'd take Kruger, especially if contracts are considered. Hopefully, though not likely, Gionta isn't extended and allowed to walk at season's end. Or even better if he's dealt and we get something for him.

Those guys won't be around when/if Hudon makes the NHL. Let's not get ahead of ourselves on Reway either.

Detroit for one has shown you can have a half dozen players or more under 6-0..as long as you're good. There's no magical height for a good hockey player.

Nope, and that's even before we take into account that Brent Sutter is the coach and that he loves more than anything good ol' west beef.

Hudson looked great tonight, doesn't hurt that he's playing with Drouin who's gonna be a stud.

Not sure how high Barbashev is projected to get picked but he looked really good out there. Good puck skills and hockey sense.
