Dman with size that can play and forward with size that can play are once again not addressed and trade chits are gone.
Size isn't the most important thing. It's grit. Perron has it, Maggie didn't. We're better because of that deal

I'm disappointed nobody claimed him, but seeing the season he had, if you were a GM of another team, you wouldn't pick him up.

What do we have to gain by having both Bachman and Labarbera in the AHL? Bunz should stay in OKC IMHO.

Dubnyk / Bryzgalov
Bachman currently injured (groin)
Labarbara / Brossoit
Bunz / Pickard
Rimmer
That's a lot of goalies...
If and when Bachman is re-activated they may have to trade or loan a goalie out. If everyone stays healthy.

No, size is a very important thing when you look at the size of all our forwards that I listed. We physically have no one that can out muscle other teams dmen or forwards on the forecheck, no one that can plant themselves in front of the net and not get moved. Perron has a bit more grit than other forwards but he's still not big.

As I've said if the Oilers plan was to bring in Perron and then trade one of the other small skilled forwards for something decent then the move would be decent, that is not happening though according to mact.

According to hockeydb, Ty Rimmer is already playing for the Quad City Mallards and has less than stellar numbers in 7 games played.

It would be something if the least heralded and talked about... Rimmer... turned out the best of that entire group.

Well I guess I'm going to have to admit this was a bad signing for us I was a fan of getting him as a backup, especially considering he was friends with Dubnyk and a veteran and could support the big guy.

Lessen to be learned is Phoenix and there defensive system makes goalies look a lot better then they actually are.

Not surprised he wasn't picked up.

If EDM was smart, they would have traded him for half of his salary.

A team then gets an NHL vet for 500K or so, and we only have to pay him 500K not to play instead of 1M+

It's likely they investigated this possibility but there were no takers, even at half the cap hit. LaBarbera is still a contract, which can still be a pain in the ass if he's not performing... something the Oilers are finding out firsthand.

So basically what you're saying is we should avoid guys like Ott and Downie this off season because they're too small? Makes sense...

Kings fans started calling him LOLBarbera because every shootout was almost a guaranteed goal scored against him.

I agree. A Bachman-Bunz tandem in OKC makes the most sense. Bachman is the experienced goalie we can call up and Bunz being the prospect that could be useful down the road. It's time for Bunz to be in the AHL.

It is a business. There's no shame in just telling him not to show up. He will still make his money. His contract will expire after this season, and he only has a 75k cap hit as long as he's technically in the minors.

So are we giving Brossoit back to Calgary?
