Might be worth it to take a shot on him , pretty streaky player so it's a risk.

Post-decision rationalization. He frustrated Vancouver fans for years who saw him as a stretch at #14, then cringed when Stewart and Giroux hit their stride, then Gillis - who at the time could do no wrong - threw him in as part of a trade that went extremely sour for us. Only way to feel better about things is to focus on his limitations - you'll notice people always reference his low PPG rather than his stronger stat - GPG - when trying to run him down. For the record I've always liked him, hated trading him rather than give him a shot on the 2nd line with Kesler where he looked promising in his 21 games in 2010, and enjoyed seeing him break out with NYI. But I've long since learned to have a thick skin about him on the Canucks board.

I know how good Grabs is. I was HORRIFIED when Gillis made that bone headed trade.

But he zones out too much and likes to float in the peremiter instead of really grinding to win the puck battles.

I think Cowan at age 22 is simply the better player in the long run. Islander would have to offer up a mid level prospect or a 2nd round pick.

Grabner and a 2nd would be fair value for him . Islanders could be getting a franchise defense man. I do the trade.
That would be like the Sens trading Conacher and a 2nd for Gudbranson. Of course we would take the deal but no way florida would.

Grabner makes $5M in 2015-16. Not a chance Ottawa takes that mess of a contract

We asked about havlat so who knows. Michalek and phillips will probably be resigned cheap or replaced next season. Lehner will probably get a moderate salary raise but nothing huge.

Just came here to say that you might be the only non-Sens fan to ever properly spell his name... nice job! Also, and more importantly, you seem quite level-headed and non-homer, quite rare and refreshing on this board.

Cheers!

NYI is healthy scratching him tonight.

Average hockey sense, below average defensive play, decent PKer.

Cowen is 22, is a rock in his own end already, can handle big minutes and big players. These players are always more valuable than the dime a dozen speedsters who don;t bring much else to the table.

It's why players like Mason Raymond wait all summer to get a PTO and sign 1 year prove yourself contracts. Snow shot his wad a little early given Grabner a 5 year pact, and it's starting to bite him now.
and thats where i stopped reading

Is this according to something your GM said or is this information given from some superfan from his couch?

He's hovering at 21 goals/82 over the last 3 years. Pretty decent, but also very streaky.

He's got 2 goals in 20 games.

This above quote alone makes me think you don't know what you are talking about. Have you seen Cowen play this year? He's terrible, can't skate, has poor puck management, loses 75% of the battles in his end, and he's dumb as ****..

So yah...please watch some more Sens games.

Nabokov has no trade value at all. So Grabner a mid pick for Anderson and Wiercioch ya ok.

Ottawa doesn't need forwards they need a right handed top 4 d man they aren't giving up valuable assets for something they don't need.

No this is information from anyone that watches the sens and has a clue, something that is this blatantly obvious to every person that watches the sens wont get missed by management.

No chance in the world the Sens send Cowen over to the Isles for Grabner. Just...none.
