2nd + bottom 6 prospect (Ross/D'Amigo) at most.

I don't understand everyone claiming that Ott isn't worth a first when the Leafs offered a first for him last year.

Ott is a good player to have but I' have to pass on overpaying for any upcoming-UFA.

That was before Nonis acquired Clarkson and Bolland. It doesn't make sense now to give up a 1st for a redundant piece.

We legally can not trade our 2nd in 2014, it's part of a conditional in the Holland trade.

We don't legally have a 2nd that we are allowed to trade till 2016, sorry.

2014 is frozen on condition in the Holland trade.

2014 or 2015 is on condition in the Bernier trade.

Try to move either of those picks and the league will not approve the trade.

I would love Ott, but we already have enough players who can play the roles he brings to a team. The assets would be better suited on a very good defenseman or on some sort of top 6 center upgrade.

I think it was a rumor on the hf boards. True or not, it doesn't really change the fact that playoff teams will pay at least a first for him in a bidding war at the deadline.

But nobody in the Sabres management would ever okay that trade. Ott is not getting shipped to Toronto

1. I don't remember this ever happening. Let's see proof.
2. Last year, we didn't have the same team or depth that we do this year.
3. Last year, he wasn't a rental.

Ott is a tool. Would I take him at a cheapish cost, sure. Would I deal our 1st for him....Hell no. Resign Bolland and forget about Ott.

Would love Ott on the Leafs. 15 goal gritty 3rd liner.

Bolland - Ott - Clarkson

We have to have a 2nd.
If Holland plays more than 25 games for the Leafs, the Ducks get
a 2nd.

I also don't think a 1st is going for a rental.

What if he hasn't played 25 games by the deadline, and he won't
be coming back up?

This. There is a significant difference btwn a UFA to be and a guy who has term left....

Ott > Gaustad tho. The point there is that if Gaustad can, in some universe, fetch a 1st, Ott can easily do so. GMs pay dumb prices (ie: multiple 2nds) for slow bottom pairing rental defensemen at the deadline all the time. A chippy 3rd liner who can win draws, PK, and is seen as a leader (A in Dallas, A then C in Buffalo) is a guy a lot of GMs are going to inquire about. If the Leafs won't pay that price, well, their loss, because somebody will.
