You ever been to a game in Florida? I don't even think they'd notice... It's not like they're going to get a barrage of criticism from the media (tho the guy who writes hockey for the Miami paper is good).

And they need players down there, their farm system is awful. We have TOO MANY players. But they need defense, just like us.

Olli Jokinen is the exact type player that we need right now, a big talented scorer to center the 2nd line. Imo he would bring our team to the next level, we would have no more weaknesses in our line-up.

Latendrese-Koivu-Higgins
Kostitsyn-Jokinen-Kovalev
Perezhogin-Bonk-Johnson
Bégin-Lappierre- Pleckanek
Streit-Murray

wow what a line-up!

I'd love to have Jokinen in our team. He's super underrated.
Second, I'd take him over Lecavalier any day of the week. Vincent is too inconsistent.

17pts in 9games says otherwise

Inconsistent ? 21-21-48 in 37games ! He got a 15 games in a row with a point and he got 17pts in the last 9 games...

Did you watch Tampa hockey this season or even know who Vinny is ?

Florida would be stupid to trade olli.

Yes, they are having a bad year but I dont think they are that far off from becoming a playoff team. There's no point in dismantling the core at this point. They should rather just continue to build around it. And there's nobody more important in that core than jokinen at this point.

Insulting my hockey knowledge is really not cool.
I've watched Vinny Play in the league for 5+ years now. This is the first season in a long time he has been producing offensively at an all-star rate and he might slow down any time now. I'll wait and see if he can sustain this pace for a a whole season or more. I'm not convinced he can keep it up...he has problems between his ears.

Are the Panthers trying to re-locate or something? If they trade Jokinen im wondering why the hell people will go at the games beside looking at the other team stars.

If Jokinen wanted to leave Florida and we could send them a package to get him, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I'd assume Florida would want a low cost player that could jump into their lineup as well as some prospects. They'd probably ask for Price.

there is a better chance of Ecklund winning the lotto than this ever happening .

Centers are at a premier right now. Many teams are looking for a good one ie. Toronto, Calgary, Montreal, Columbus. It is a sellers market. To get Jokinen expect to overpay, overpay, overpay!

I happen to disagree with Renholder, but that's opinion. I prefer Vinny L. but my thinking that doesn't make me right. The question for awhile has been about Lecalier's problems with consistency.

Ask a TB fan.

This has been his best year, does that mean the questions are no longer valid ? You see the future ? Why so snotty ?

I think it would cost Montreal 2 NHL ready (young players) and a 1st, something like Perezoghin Plekanec and a 1st.

Salary wise it's not dooable as Plekanec and Perezoghin combined don't make 5+ million. Florida would have to take a guy like Ninimaa to balance the $$$$.

I would give them all up to get Jokinen.

I was just thinking about a proposal for him last week and then this thread comes up. It would be great to land this guy, though I don't know Florida would do it. I think his contract is a very fair price for him and he'd be worth every penny as IMO the cap will surely rise and so will salaries.

Dude!! (classic movie!!..."Lebowski borthers" ...title?!)

O'Byrne, Halak, Kostitsyn, and Ryder for... JOKINEN???
A little too much.

Halak: might one day be a great NHL goalie (already dominating in AHL at 21)
Kosts: lots of offensive potential (starting to bloom at 21...)
Ryder: one-dimensional 30 goal scorer, but still...it's 30 goals! great chemistry with Koivu/Higgins, etc...
O'Byrne: only 20 or 21? could end up being a bigger/taller RIVET. Or something close (hopefully!) to Komisarek (or poor man's version of it!).

I'd give Ryder, O'Byrne, Niinimaa (would they want him?), and a
1st rounder
FOR...
Jokinen.

Perhaps. Still we have Price coming up before too long, so I would move Halak. Kosts has been doing well this season and I'm now higher on him than I was a year ago. Ryder is just too inconsistent for me and Jokinen looks good for 30 goals a season these days. Ummm, O' Byrne? I had Milroy in my head when I was typing/reading. Still though, that's a lot of players who have yet to prove themselves for a guy who's more proven.

Maybe they'll take Niinimaa, Samsonov, Aebischer and a 1st rounder for Jokinen and Bouwmeester.

Very, very true It's still too tight (teams between 7th spot and 10th spot).

But, can't you tell?!!!
We love to talk about possible acquisitions!!

I can't wait till every team has played at least 55-60 games, then we'll have a better indication...

No actually I yell at my kids and when they don't come around to my way of thinking, I yell louder. I learn though, albeit very slowly.

Makes sense, he's a center. If there is talk I am almost certain it'll be Ryder going the other way.

That is if ANY of this is true.

60 days or so left til the trade doors close

Jokinen won't be a hab, we have to look for a less talented guy, I say trade Plekanec for a not too bad center and a pick at the deadline.
