Souray is currently second in defenseman Eastern Conference voting behind Campbell.

Which of your hfboarder started the "Vote for Souray" campaign?

I think Souray did his own campaign with his play so far this season

I know, but the surprising thing is that he might be a starter. When's the last time that a habs was an All-Star starter (voted in by the fans).

I think the biggest shocker is that Brian Campbell is #1

I think the Sabres get a wee bit too many votes because they win so many games. I'm all for Buffalo forwards being started -- they have the scoring stats -- but a bevy of star defensemen is not what pops to my mind when I think of them.

The Habs are a bit in the same boat, TBH, though less so -- they are one of those quiet "oh, they're a top-ranked team?" stories you get every year whereas the Sabres get more hype this year (odd to say that!)

And gaudy offensive stats matter more for the fan vote than all-around play. I really like Souray and he may start the All-Star game, but how many people here believe he is even the best defenseman on his own team (see Markov, Andrei)?

I'm more interested in seeing the coaches' invitations.
