Even if that's the case, it seems like a weird way for management to express that sentiment. I guess I'm not on the inside so I don't know anything for certain but it's definitely a weird gesture/decision.

Agree. It's certainly an odd gesture to give a guy who just held out a letter but I suppose weirder things have happened before.

Any update on his play this years? Statisticaly he look good with 19pts in 25 games.

I still surprise that no one take a 7 rounder on him.

Not very impressive considering what he was suppose to be, especially as an overager.

Wouldn't surprise me if he made the NHL. But I think he's one of those kids who will bounce around from team to team and a non factor for a playoff team.

He is not an overager - he has a 95 birthdate. His brother is an OA this year.

Saw him tonight. Still has good hands and great vision. Hasn't got much faster. Just a solid WHL player right now.

Yeah I echo these comments, looks like Josh Winquist 2.0.

Comes with a bit more controversy than Josh, but yes. I don't know how Josh gets points, but he does.

What's the story behind him? Was touted as a high first round pick a few years ago.

I believe he had issues with the Prince George organization and demanded a trade during his draft year. They weren't able to facilitate a trade so he left the team and played in the SJHL.

Because Winquist is a great finisher with a very quick release. Not really the same as Alex who is more of a playmaker IMO.

Any chance Alex Forsberg gets taken with a late pick?

Once had hype. I guess he's on a new team now and left the old troubles behind?

Any chance someone would take a flier on him in the 6th/7th round?

Wouldn't be surprised if somebody gambled with a 7th. You could do a lot worse in the 7th round.

Highly unlikely... abandoned his team only to come back again the following season. And then had a very average season. Took too many steps back and has a dark cloud over his head unfortunately from a scouts standpoint. Even if he has cleared up any issues he had, I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole. Best case scenario he has a solid 19 year old season and gets invited to an NHL training camp and possibly earns a free agent deal. Worst case scenario is he has another average season and doesn't play in the league as a 20 year old and finishes his playing career in Junior A as a 20 year old. I think the combo of his attitude and unfortunately playing in a horrible WHL city was a career ruiner

Had a solid 16 year old season in Prince George... walked out on his team when he was 17 in his draft year... he went home for xmas break and decided not to return. He demanded a trade but PG didn't trade him and let him sit at home. He played Junior A the rest of that season. Then in his 18 year old season he decided to come back to PG and play. Put up very average numbers (28pts. in 44 games).. and has now been traded to Saskatoon blades. Now he will be entering his 19 year old season. Former WHL 1st overall selection that is turning into a big time dud(Lazar, Morrissey, Petan, Klimchuk, Sam Reinhart, Eric Comrie, Madison Bowie are just a few names that Forsberg was drafted before in that WHL draft)

Wasnt he talked about early on in his draft year as a potential top 15?

I'd use a 7th on him if I didnt have a feel on any other player.

Sounds like a good late round pick.

Maybe a 7th round pick if a team has nothing else in mind. Kid has a terrible attitude.

Id imagine all teams will pass on him and see how he does in a different scenario in Saskatoon. Maybe sign a free agent deal after next season. Don't see a team drafting him. Hasn't panned out at all and is a very average skater. Hopefully he trains hard this offseason and proves people wrong
