Hurri, what SBA/Tomek did in Peltonen case, was totally wrong but I guess you can't see the reasons why it happend.

HIFK is stucked with the "brand hockey" and IMO always will. No matter what year or decade, they have tried and have got opponent's better players out of the game by some 4th line/7th defender "goon".

Preseason last year, Jokerit wanted to play hockey, but HIFK with Melart tried to live again by the "brand" but Jokerit, who have been bullied before in the past, "didn't want to give the lunch money", went mad and replied, though in wrong way. That wasn't still enough for HIFK. They still need to live by the "brand", and gets goon Gillies there. Though HIFK this year is soft compared to Jokerit so maybe they really needed protection.

In last couple years one player named Ruutu has gotten inside of HIFK players/organization's head. If Melart and Ruutu would have fought back in the day, we wouldn't be in this situation. But the problem was, that Melart was the 7th defender back then and Ruutu a top forward. Plus like we all know, you get ejected from the game by SM-liiga rules and probably sit out next game too.

If SM-liiga would have NHL style fight rules. We wouldn't be talking about this. Still.

Not to mention that they went back to their old antics in Kuopio in last season even. Though I don't recall who was the coach back then.

Fair enough, though IMO there's no way you can argue that there could be anything Melart did to justify what Ben-Amor did to Peltonen. Unless Melart(who is a player developed by Jokerit btw, brand hockey for you) beat up Ben-Amor's disabled grandpa.

True and not true. Not true in this case I mean. Usually true though.

Ruutu was hardly a "top player", and I wouldn't care one bit if he was. (nor would he have fought even if he was desperate for ice time, the guy is a coward and a loser) When a player acts on the ice the way he does, he should fight, or the club hires a goon to fight the fights for him.

I don't agree with a big part of the post but I see where you are coming from. A reasonable post overall, thank you for it. Much more insightful and nicer to read than the typical;

Imo he's there for protection and to act as a threat.

He used to be the best but that's almost a decade ago. He is pretty close to mediocre at the moment as his "management by perkele" just doesn't work. Summanen's game plan have had enforcers/goons in the past too but Gillies is there only because what happend last year.

Is there some kind of a Jokerit-HIFK fight here going on? Let me solve this as a neutral person outside of Hell... um, Helsinki. The result is... a tie. The thing is, that both Jokerit and HIFK are teams filled with fighters, losers, and jarkkoruutus, and neither one of them can't play respectable hockey. It's not cool to lose a team to KHL, but I'm glad it's Jokerit. Next one will be HIFK.

Then to a different subject. About half of the teams have been sucking so far this season in Liiga, but look at Tampere. If Ilves and Tappara continue this, will hockey craze take over Tampere, like it did in the good old times.

Kärpät has also been great so far. It has been no surprise as they have bought players like Aaltonen, Kukkonen, Pyörälä to their team, but they sure do play entertaining and good hockey.

Seeing fans of these teams arguing and hating each other gives you the same warm feeling that you get when you see two young people love each other. I hope the hate is high in the next game, me and my friends have tickets to hartwall.

While Jokerit - TPS game was still going on....kilometers away from the arena were fans fighting on the street. Braveheart/Soccer/football/ hooligan style where two crews collide. The Jokerit "mob/firm" apparently were the ones that don't go to games anymore and TPS side had some football/soccer-fans who had just arrived to Helsinki from Lahti (had a game there) by bus.

Kemppainen might just have scored one of the easiest goal's this whole season

Karpat have 2 short-handed goals in this match now Pyorala with the 2nd.

Erkki Loikkanen just on YLE Puhe: New site for 1üga might not be finished this season, shootout scorers won't show up there until then.

This is pathetic.

Joonas Donskoi scored 4/5 in the shootout tonight (missed shot hit the crossbar) 14/16 in shootouts this year.

Kärpät haven't lost since 28th of September. 15 wins in a row and a new league record, simply astonishing

Needs to develop a lot more. He's got 3+9=12 in 22 games. He needs to become at least a near point-per-game player(or crack 40 points) in Finland before it's beneficial to move to KHL. Simply going home is not a good reason at this point of his development.

Was extremely glad to see lots of hooking and whatnot in the HIFK-Ässät game today. And from what I've seen and heard it has pretty much been a trend in Liiga.

Oh, and no idea what happened to the pretty good Ässät during the break. Dear god the team has no passion whatsoever. Some individuals are playing ok at times, but that's it.

Well, the championship last year makes it a tiny bit less painful to watch.

And a special shout-out to Jyri Marttinen, who after coming back from the National team games has looked like complete crap. Almost got it together before the damn break.

Ps. Glad that Rendulic is doing well.
