We're already seeing the difference with him now. It's not so much that Emelin is even a great blueliner so much that his presence means fewer minutes for Bouillion and that helps us greatly.

I don't give much thought to people overreacting on a contract that they think is overpaying a player that has yet to play a game this season, at that point in time.

You should look back into the Carey Price trade.

There is always room for improvement, but the defense with Emelin is completely different in a good way. The team adds a decent defensive D who makes a good first pass.

Emelin back means Diaz wont be playing top 4 minutes. Thats the real key. He wont get exposed as much playing on that 3rd pairing.

Bouillon/Murray remain 3rd pairing guys regardless.

Diaz on a 2nd pairing was having some issues. It was very apparent when Emelin went down last year and to start this year. He did got better recently on the 2nd pairing.

Emelin tho is a nice upgrade on that 2nd pairing over Diaz.

Hopefully in a couple weeks, when Emelin's back at 100% or close to it, they restart using the pairings from last year (Markov/Emelin, PK/Gorges, Diaz/Bouillon-Murray), so PK and Markov are split. This would help having 1 offensive Dman on the ice at all time.

Right now, opposing teams can simply matchup vs the PK-Markov pairing. Thats much easier to shut down.

Bournival suffered a contusion. So nothing serious. He is questionable for tomorrow.

And this:
As far as Lafleur Guy's point, it was mostly about Price. While he was a factor to Price and the team's collapse, he wasn't ALL the collapse has we had already seen some collapse prior to his leaving. And the proof is that before Emelin came back this year....Price DIDN'T collapse. But of course with him...we have a better D.

Now whether people feel he was overpaid doesn't mean he's not a good player or that people thought he was NOT needed. Might just mean that.....he seems overpaid especially for a guy coming back from such a bad injury. Everytimg I see him cringe...I cringe myself. Tonight was no exception. But he's clearly much better than everybody not named Markov and Subban. By a mile.

Absolutely. But if we want to become better, more reliable and go to the other level...there's still some changed to be made. But he obviously makes a big difference.

Yep. I'd like it too, but I'd like him to have another season of 100+ points also.

Him, Malkin, Sid and Stamkos all reaching 100 points would be amazing. Now Steven is injured... Fking injuries.

Guess that depends on which side of the argument you were on. One thing is indisputable though, this team's collapse perfectly coincided with his injury. How much of that is coincidence is up for debate...

Murray is a bigger threat to us than most of the leagues 2nd lines.

He's a vet, 2nd pairing Dman. His salary is about right.

Of course, would be nice to have him signed for 2.5M/8 years but thats not how it works. He signed for pretty much the going rate.

If Diaz was to sign for the same amount, then it'd be wrong.

Do we know if Gionta's goal/no goal will be reviewed?
