Ovechkin always says in interviews that his favorite player is Markov (when he doesn't say himself, I mean). He also says he's the hardest defenseman to play against.

I have pictures of them laughing together today.

Ovechkin watched most of the Habs skate this morning from the Caps bench and was joking with Perezhogin and Kovalev as well.

i dont really see a Markov moving from town to town just to play hockey for higher salary compensation and being with a friend. he is quiet and likes montreal and we like him. he doesnt need more...

still from a fan pov

Well, without me having to translate the whole article (its too late and i dont have any more beer...) this La Presse article deals with the fact that Ovechkin is hardly well known as a star hockey player even in Washington.

( Hockey has always been such a major draw in Washington... even beating attendance numbers for pinochle matches and those violent lawn darts games...)

It also says that Ovechkin thinks Markov and Chara are the hardest D-men to beat, the 1st for his speed and the 2nd for his reach. Both Markov and Ovechkin train together all summer long in good ole TO it seems.

The rest is trivial at best... Ovechkin whining about Brodeur and stuff...

LOL!!

if crosby, malkin and ovechkin were on the same team.. with the salary cap in effect, the rest of the team would be Bantam players.

Markov said his best friend in the league is Afinogenov. Although him and Ovechkin are buddies and do play tennis together quite regularly.

Yup read that in La Presse when it was his turn to be interviewed.

The future looks good for the Russian National team if they all get along so well.

He didn't whine he just said: "He (Brodeur) couldn't see my eyes, all he had to do was watch the puck."

It's fun to see he like sMontreal and has 2 or 3 friends here...so I'll just have to wait 5 more years until he's UFA
