He will start to score more soon... his shot% this year and last is just unsustainably low! 4.5%.

Especially after he was 12% through his first 88 NHL games, and in his last two years of junior shot at 15.9% in the reg and 15.7% in the playoffs.

Ofc those numbers come down in the NHL... but not to 4.5% in last ~70 games or the 7.9% he has shot so far in his career.

Schenn giving you anywhere from 50-70 pts a season is a SOLID player. I have no issues with his production. I wished he would hit more though b

Mason just continues to play well.
i think the Flyers were kind of waiting for the Isles to fold up the tents after the Flyers got those 3 quick ones in the 2nd. That didnt happen and thankfully they stuck with it and was able to get that 4th goal that put the Isles away. A month ago they might have blown that 3-0 lead.

They don't have 0.500 winning percentage, but they have a 0.500 points percentage; they have 50% of the available points.

So, yes, they have a 0.500 record.

If you hear a commentator say the have a 50% winning record, feel free to get upset.

If the Debs lose the Flyers have a 43% chance of making the playoffs... needing to go ~32-21-7 (93 points) to be pretty sure of getting in.

So 1.18 points a game (in the standings) from now on.

71/120 points for 59% from now on.

That would give them:

42-31-9 over the year. Which seems pretty achievable really.

If they did ~that they would most likely be 5th/6th seed.

If they're fighting for the 7th/8th place seed in the East at the end of the season, they're probably not making the playoffs.

I think you mean 4th/5th in the Metro.
We'll have to wait and see. Right now they're 5 points behind 8th place, but they've also got two games in hand.

Haha, true.

I am kind of at a loss with the new playoff system.

14 on one side 16 on the other.

And it being within the realms of possibility to have one division so awful that the 3rd placed team is ~10th in the conference and gets in the playoffs.

Seems stupid to me.

Err, yeah, what I typed didn't make sense.

Meant that if they were fighting for the 7th/8th seed. They probably will need to finish top 3 in the Metro to make the playoffs.

I'm not sold on us making the playoffs or anywhere near sold really, but it's very good seeing the improvement and having fun watching games again.

9-3-2 in the last 14. I think that is a much better indicator of how this team is then the messy 1-7 start.

Couts is quickly becoming a stud. Offense is coming around too. Keep potting points and we will have a legit star on our hands

I'm having so much fun watching Couts turn into the player we all thought he could be right now. Hopefully that whole line keeps it up.

Thanks MSE, it is much appreciated.

Not as good as it sounded on the radio, but a quality hit nonetheless.

Good to see different lines going on scoring streaks!

Vinny's line was scoring early in the season when nothing else seemed to work out, then Giroux's line got going and now it's the 3rd line thriving out there.

Schenn was never ever ever considered to be a superstar in the making. His upside is and always was that of a premier second line center with an edge.
That's what he in turning into and it would be a mistake to trade him. Having G, Schenn and Couturier will be this teams strength for years to come, so don't ruin it.

Two young building blocks for years to come. I still think Brayden can get 30 goals a year when he matures. Sean really looks good with the extra weight he put on and his line is playing well along with Matt and Steve.

The third line is probably my favorite since Hartnell-Briere-Leino in the playoffs.

Exactly................Its just the way he rolls ! Just about every player on this team have had numerous periods of bad games. The thing about Harts is simply that he is not the most graceful skater out there and when he is struggling it is MAGNIFIED !Harts game is doing the dirty work along the boards and going to the places where MOST fear to tread. He might pump in a hatty next game then everyone will be suddenly on the Harts band wagon.............go figure.

That was a great hit. If that were Couturier's rookie year or last season, he probably would have bounced off Okposo. Now that there's some weight added to his frame, he's becoming like a solid brick wall. Love the player that Couturier is becoming. The playmaking aspect is there, the defensive acumen is there, it's only a matter of time that he starts scoring and once he does, it's going to be something else to watch.

They are awesome to watch. I really hope we can find a way to keep our forward group together next season and just add Laughton to the 4th line. Hopefully the cap will rise a good amount so we can resign Schenn and Downie.

2014-2015

Harntell-Giroux-Voracek
Schenn-Lecavalier--Simmonds
Read-Couturier-Downie
Rinaldo-Laughton-Hall
Rosehill

It's not just that. He's just so damn inconsistent, and his down stretches last forever. He loses it both mentally and physically on the ice. Yesterday, it appeared like he had no coordination. Obviously, he's also prone to some really dumb penalties. I've always seen him as pretty replaceable (Laughton next season for example). Considering how long and terrible his contract is, I hope Holmgren moves him after the season, if not sooner.
