And how in the world would he make that happen? The cap would not allow it.
Not as it stands right now, no. But maybe he isn't done. With todays waives and Prospal thrown in that clears up some of that space. Who knows who else is involved. Maybe it's a three or four team deal going on. All I know is in a salary cap world there are ways to get things done.
Just throwing some **** out there and seeing if it sticks, that's all.
I'd pay for Richards to be shipped, air mail, to Chicago. Whats their address?
Ok, so you move Richards for Khabibulan, who in the world fills the gaping hole that we have now created for a top two line center. That isnt coming from Springfield, and we have not really freed up enough payroll to make another significant addition. Whie we have a massive upgread in goal, our forwards take a HUGE hit.

Okay, so you throw Prospal out the door in a deal to get Khabby. That is 2/3 of a line that still has to be addressed in terms of who will take Affy and Prospals spots on the roster, and no real room under the cap to make a move. We put ourselves in more of a jam than we are in right now under this scenario.
Oh sure, there is a way. Its called St. Louis, Richards, or Lecavalier. Which "way" would you like to pick?
I wouldn't have a problem with Richards going either but that's not going to happen. He is the most overpaid player in NHL history. There are 2 guys on this team right now that would be untouchable if I were GM. 4 and 26. Anyone else would be fair game.

But thats the problem right there. You have to give up a high priced player in exchange for another high priced player in a cap world. There is no way in hell that we can add Khabby and keep the big three, and still ice a competitive team.

I honestly don't have an answer for that Mike. All I know is 2 guys got cut today, Prospal has ever increasing rumors surrounding him, Dudley was in the house last night, and I can't think of one guy (other than Nik and Havlat) that would be of any interest to Feaster. Like I said, I'm just throwing **** against a wall right now, not looking for a fight.
I think everybody can put the Khabibulin dreams to rest. Without trading on of the big three I don't see how we could do it. We would have to trade Prospal, let Feds and Sarich walk plus still dump some salary and fill those holes with replacement level players. Even if we were to dump alot of salary for Khabi he is still a very good goalie, people get pissed at other team fans for thinking they can get Richards or Lecavalier for scraps, we aren't going to get Khabi for scraps either.

I don't necessarily agree with that statement. Richards has sucked this year. Our problem has not been a lack of scoring but a lack of solid goaltending. Give up Richards and you lose a 7.8 million dollar cap hit and 31 points. But he is going nowhere.

I would think that Feaster would have atleast a interest in Sharp, Vandermeer or Kukkonen

Dmitry Afanasenkov! He can play center! He won the faceoffs he took last night!

Holy **** all I said was maybe he was trying to get him back, I never said I had a dream about it. And I also said alot would have to be involved. *******, I thought I was being ultra sensitive today.
And the real question is, does Chicago have any reason to give up Khabby?
No they dont - they appear playoff bound, and quite frankly if we were to get him back I'd still hate him. I personally dont want money whores on my team.

Not necessarily - he didnt chase the money to the Windy City. He and his agent used numbers to substantiate that he deserved that salary, and Feaster was dumb enough to give in.
