Well, if the Leafs indeed want to trade us one of their UFA-to-be star player, I'd rather have Sundin then Tucker. We need a center for Kovalev and Samsonov, don't we?

Just say no, Bob. I'd be embarrassed and ashamed to be a Habs fan if Tucker joined the team.

He needs to stay a Leaf, or maybe go to the Bruins, if anywhere. Or retire, that would be the best option.

One of the biggest mistakes of the Houle era was letting go of Tucker. I'd welcome him back any day of the week.

If we could trade Gilmour back to TOR in 02-03, why not Tucker the other way? Espeically if the Leafs are out of the playoff picture like MTL was in 02-03...

That was actually one of our better deals from the Houle era. One year, Poulin played 82 games when nobody else did.

The Leafs won't pull the trigger on him right away, though. It would be around the next dealine if they're sure that they can't make the playoffs. I would take him as a rental, he's the type of pest that would score the big goal in an important moment in the playoffs.

Tucker switched to #12 the season he was traded. That year Bure also switched, from #18 to #20 I believe and also was traded.

I think there was one more number swtich that year too... Turner Stevenson from #30 to #23.

Are you sure about that? I thought he wore some number in the 40's... I'd guess 42
EDIT: I see now

If the leafs are trading tucker, I'm sure montreal would have to pay a higher premium than anyone else. You would have to unload some serious prospects. As much as I hate him, he is so good at getting PP goals down low. With Souray at the point and Tucker down low, the montreal PP just gets more deadly.

I find it amazing what kind of player darcy has grown into. Anyone who remembers him playing for the habs would never have imagined darcy as a legitmate 20+ goal scorer. Then again, he wasn't given much of a chance under Tremblay to show his offensive ability.

What was that trade again?

Vukota + Ulanov + Poulin to the habs

for

Tucker, Wilkie, and Richer to the lightning

That one stings. Ulanov was serviceable for a short time but the key to the deal from the habs POV (Poulin) was a big bust.

The gilmour trade was different circumstances. He was at the twilight of his career and i bet gilmour wanted to go back. Savard basically just did him a favour. Obviously, gilmour wasn't part of the future here.

I'm not sure tucker has asked to be moved. He still has a few years left in the tank and even if he asked for a move, I doubt he would ask to go back to montreal. Personally, I dont think tucker is going anywhere.

Yeah, I don't see Tucker going anywhere, either. He's the face of the organization.

I don't think the Leafs would move Tucker unless they are ready to commit to changing alot of things. Trading Sundin, Tucker would be options if they are going to re-tool for 07-08. Leafs Nation would be pretty upset if they traded either of those two, they are two of te four corners on that team along with McCabe and Kaberle.

Don't be so fast at pulling the trigger.
I would love to see this guy on the team, he will become a fan favorite in an instant.
On the other hand, it is unlikely to happens since the Leaf will probably want to keep him and dump Sundin.

To go back to the affirmation in the thread title, I second the motion...
Actually their trying to resign Sundin to a longer contract and Tucker's status is unknown. UFA to be, if the leafs slip some more, Tucker could go somewhere.
