Before you post, check the salary cap, and that it too much for Doan and Comrie if Doan doesn't re-sign in the off-season. With the D we have to sign plus Bonk and Johnson, that woudl be doubtful!
Cap wise it fits fine for this year and frees up salary for Montreal to resign Sourray and Markov.
Maybe you should stop worring about next years cap because it fits under this years....Bang your head a bit harder you might bang some sense into it....
Montreal would be freeing up a ton of money as they would not have the contracts of ryder samsonov comrie doan or plekanec to worry about....If they choose to resign Doan they would have more then enough money to do so.
Bonk wll not be resigned next year as a guy like Lapierre or Chipchura will be assuming that role maybe both will be in the lineup next year replacing both Johnson and Bonk once again saving a ton of money which can be used to sign their key players.
Don't forget about Grabovsky and Kositsyn who are very successful right now in the AHL

Are you crazy? Why would we give up three decent-to-good players (none of whom are UFA) AND a pick for two UFAs? If, at the end of the season, Doan and Comrie both choose to go elsewhere, that'll have been five rather important players slipping through our fingers. And we end up with nothing.
Let's face it the time is now...Montreal is not scoring a bunch of goals and could use some secondary scoring. This trade may not be good for next year but Ryder Plekanec and Samsonov are easily replaced by Prezeoghin Lapierre Chipchura Kositsyn Grabovsky ect...My point being, Montreal has the depth to make this trade.
You have to admit ...this trade really makes Montreal a scary team to play against.
Higgins Koivu Kovalev
Latendresse Comrie Doan
Johnson Bonk Perezoghin
Begin Lapierre Streit
Real question is would Phoenix give up Doan and Comrie for that package?
That's a terrible deal for Montreal. Both Doan and Comrie can walk away after this season. Habs have 3 big time UFA to sign now. We would be given up a good chunk of our youth and a draft pick for two rentals having so-so years.
Well everyone here but me seems to think this is a horrible trade for the habs. I'm going to post it on the trade talk board to see what the general public thinks. I bet they poop all over it and say Montreal is not given neerly enough
