I'd say Garrioch had it first. However, if I'm not mistaken, he's not someone that this forum considers credible.

thanks for the rain on the parade.

I'm not going to lie, there has been moves for players with impact that makes you go hmm. I wouldn't mind getting a Thornton type deal SJ got from Boston.

Bourque+Diaz would fetch reasonable return. Despite what many believe, Bourque has decent value, and a decent PMD like Diaz also has some value.

With that being said, moving Diaz would mean management believes a Hamilton defenseman is ready for the Big Club.

But then again, a site like FTP claiming a "big splash" will be made, when it sites 0 credible sources and contains more advertisements than actual text, should be taken with less than a grain of salt.

If we moved Diaz it would be the return of Bourray.

We have atleast 4 better options in Hamilton than Bourray lol, but if that's the case then don't move Diaz.

Would anyone be mad if Marc Bergebin acquires Martin Erat for Rene Bourque?

Well Bourque and Diaz would fit.
But as you wrote, Beaulieu and Leblanc would not be in line with his philosophy.

What GM would want Bourque with that salary, those stats, and his questionable health? His reputation for being a lazy player are known in the league, nobody wants a player like that , not with that salary.

Regarding Diaz, you are over-estimating his value.

Would Washington even be looking at Bourque after he elbowed Backstrom a few years back?

Yeah but Simmonds lit us up that one game and single handedly won Philly the game when they were down 3-0. Thus he's a God 180 point power forward second coming of Jesus superstar.

  • He did sign some players, and he started discussing contract with others. So now he knows what it will look like, and what he will be willing to do or not based on $ figures. Since it almost never happen that every player sees themselves the way the team sees them, it seems plausible at least one will be trade.
  • Many players will be UFA. I'm sure Bergevin won't sign all of them, and I'm sure he won't let all of them leave for nothing.
  • After almost 2 years, we can say Bergevin and his team had all the time to perfectly know the prospects of the team. So now they know wich ones they want to go further with, and others they won't, so the latests would become trade bait.

So to me, it looks everything's in place for the team to be in a trading position.
Totally agree, and honestly I dont consider what he did so far as ''significant moves'' besides Brandon Prust. Cause Drewiske..Parros...Murray...that's almost AHL material come on. Brière is an NHL guy but at the end of his career(NO! impossible ! it never happens in MTL. lmao) n eveybody know its another small(unfortunately) fragile player. He couldnt sign Lecavalier so he signed that lemon that's it that's all.

When Molson hired him it was all about making changes, and so far its still the same midgets team. Bergevin was very lucky to draft Galchenyuk, top3 pick after an awful season, cant really give him credit for that and Gallagher was drafted under Gauthier so, everybody knew he was ready to make it, the fans we're disapointed he was sent down the year before, you guys remember.

So imo it would be just normal that Bergevin would move someday cause he did nothing since he is here. His nomination for GM of the year last season made me laught...that was the same exact team as the Gauthier era lmao.. plus a new kid drafted under Gauthier(Gally) and Galchenyuk, a 3rd overall considered as the real 1st overall that year. I dont wanna hate cause I dont hate Bergevin he looks like a cool guy but im just saying here he did nothing significant so far. Oh and I dont care they're on a winning streak it changes nothing cause at the end of the day when the real season will begin, the playoff...they dont stand a chance.

I like to move it move it, I like to move it move it

What GM would give up a top tier prospect in Filip Forsberg for Erat? Trades for veterans happen all the time. He has a big body, he can skate, and he can shoot. To say no one would want him would be to greatly undervalue him. And his salary is under 3.5m.

I'm over-estimating Diaz's value by saying he has "some value"?

Bourque ( to replace ) and Diaz ( our D has twice as many points as the Flyers D ) for Simmonds.

That's not necessarily true. What if he goes after a younger guy like Bobby Ryan (not trade for him specifically but his type)?
