i'd take Pitkanen... he's impressed me every time i've seen him. Bouwmeester on the other hand never has.

I have seen Pitkanen several times but Bouwmeester only a couple.

Pitkanen makes me thing Norris. Bouwmeester makes me think Hedican. (Sorry if that offends anyone.)

This is a close one but i will go with Joni because he has taken his spot in Flyers defense, that perhaps is the best defense in the league.

Pitkanen seems to be more of the for sure player. More of the mature player. More of the tamed player. So to speak that is.

With Jay Bouw you've got a guy with never ending hype surrounding him...and when you think about how big is he, how fast he is and how well he's done considering the team he's on, it's hard not to think that that untamed, mangy, unreal potential might be there for a good reason.

With Bouwmeester I always look to the World Cup last Summer. He was the best defenseman in the tournament. A tournemant of decent competition against men in which his team was better then the team he plays for in the NHL comparitively speaking. Really the best two players were Bouwmeester and Luongo both victims of Florida's young team that needs a coach.

So while I see 0 precentage that Pitkanen will be anything but the top of the league for years, I see little that tells me Bouwmeester will be anywhere but there aswell...but as I stated he hasn't had the luxury of being on a better team and breaking into the NHL at 20 like Pitkanen. Jay at 18 was playing more minutes then Pitty is now at 20.

So it's a toss up. Pitkanen's a little safer, but Bouwmeester's a little more exciting and epic potential wise.

The jury is still out on both of them
