If teams are looking to hire him as a GM then we're lucky to be able to keep him around as assistant GM. He's really well respected throughout the league so I'm happy to keep him, good mentor for Bergevin (and I bet he was a major factor in keeping Dudley around.)

Good thing, Bergevin needs some experience around him, Larry Carrierre has been around a while, but I think he was a GM for like maybe 1 year as an interm GM.

Another thing I like, Dudley unlike Bergevin doesn't seem to care about "character" all that much, and really like big players, he was the one that traded E.Kane when he was with ATL, and guys like Akim Aliu, who had questionable character but where big strong players.

And he also more aggressive, I think in his first year as Atl GM, he went out and got Ladd, and Buff, and actually was the one that put big Buff back on D.

Prospect fanatics.

They could very well end up with 4 first round picks. ****, if a team is desperate enough, a 1st for Ott. 5 first rounders.

Dudley isn't getting any younger. He might very well be satisfied with an assistant job. And the Habs might just wanted to be proactive without Dudley saying a thing about Buffalo.

Since his raise doesn't count against the cap, I don't see any problem with retaining his services. I have no problem with this.

Its good news.

He probably did whats best for his family more so than anything related to his career. Probably has desire to be a GM but prefers a more stable lifestyle.

Yes, so Dudley can extend Subban afterwards.

Is Subban leaving today? I didn't realize it was July 1st already.

You do realize that extending Subban doesn't occupy 100% of MB's time?

If you had an idea of how many decisions the Habs management have to do on a daily basis before handling the Subban extension, I think you'd defenestrate yourself.

No. Extending Dudley cost WAY less than extending Subban. Hence, it takes more time for the latter.

1) Why not PK.

2) The Sabres did not offer him the job, they just asked for permission to talk.

3) I'm not impressed by the Pro Scouting so far.

"Hey PK, you better sign a contract now because I can't sign any other contracts with anyone else before you do!"

I sincerely hope none of you are ever expected to run a business.

I know Trevor Timmins is Director of Amateur Scouting....but I though Dudley was involved also in the amateur side of things
