Juraj Mikus

Montreal's 4th round pick in 2005. He's playing his first season in NA in the QMJHL for Chicoutimi. His current stats are 35-14-23-37.

Do you guys think he'll be a regular NHLer? What kind of point production do you think he'll put up in the big leagues? How long until he has a chance at cracking the Habs roster?

On the TSN broadcast of the US/Slovak WJC Round Robin game, Pierre McGuire qualified Mikus as player with good hands and vision who must improve his skating in order to make it to the NHL. He has been one the more crafty players on an otherwise weak Slovak team during this game, getting loads of ice time in all situations. He's made some good passes, taking advantage of some American defensive breakdowns early in the match, but it hasn't resulted in any points.

Many things are wrong in your post but it's a good informative post. It hasn't resulted in any points? He did score the only slovak goal didnt he? Mikus slow? Now that's funny, he's one of the fastest habs prospect down the road. He wasn't really fast today I agree but he's just being lazy out there like lots of offensive players. He needs to play a more grittier style and he's gonna need to bulk up and play more physically. He also had big consistency issues at first and like I said he just likes floating out there. He has long ways to go but he just keeps improving his play in the q. He has good vision and amazing hands, he has potential but it's up to him to respond. It's good to see he he's producing in the wjc's because he was held pointless last year (in 6 games). He has now 3 goals in 3 games which isn't bad.

most of the stuff you quoted came from pierre mcguire btw, not katodelder.

And after watching him today, his skating (whether he was lazy or not) was definitely subpar. On the 2-on-1 s he was a part of, he looked pretty slow to me. And if he's being lazy in that type of scoring situation, then that's not a good sign.

agreed. I dont see Mikus with a future in the NHL, especially not with the Canadiens. He will play a couple solid seasons in the A before returning to Europe is my prediction
